  1. My wife & I heard those jets go over our house. It took us a moment to remember that it was opening day at Fenway (I was watching the Mets game of course!).
  2. Ick. Wrong end of a good pitching duel. The Braves sure busted their asses on everything and had it pay off. Lets paste the Phillies at home.
  3. Sad, I thought they had a comeback in 'em today. Oh well, there's still a lot of baseball, we'll get 'em tomorrow.

  6. I've noticed an increasing number of hawks in Boston the past few years. I don't know if they're actually increasing in number or if I'm just seeing them more but it's pretty cool. They're usually harmless to humans and pretty to watch.
  7. I can attest that one can hear/feel popping sounds in one's body without actually tearing muscles. It happened once when I sprained my ankle and I believe it's common when numerous types of injuries occur.
  8. 4) Shit happens.

"52" Weissman Opening Day Role Call, all Cranepoolians please report: Reporting late, but I did watch the majority of the game today when my son was not distracting me by spitting up on his Mets bib. I've started the season on the DL with sciatica which makes it painful to sit and type so I sat out the IGT. Which is probably a good thing judging by the usual crap I post in IGT's in lame attempts to be clever and funny.
  10. Speaking of LC, I meant to post this a few days ago: Historical Baseball Records.
  11. mario25 wrote: I always wished the PA announcer would play the Beatles song "Strawberry fields for ever" after one of the Straw Man's epic home runs..... Theoretically it would be even more apropos after a good defensive play.
  12. G-Fafif wrote: I must be really Mets-cocooned, because the notion that there is, as Myers puts it, all this talk about YS and not enough about Shea, I'm thinking, "Yankee Stadium? Is that having a final season, too?" The final season at Yankees Stadium was in 1973.
  13. The Rick Reeds gathered at Shea for every one of their hero's starts, oboes at ready.
  14. Centerfield wrote: Other: Pedro Martinez. He counts. Game 5 versus the Indians in 1999. Six no-hit innings in a do-or-die game is really the ultimate save.
  15. I haven't seen this movie, but Mystic River is more of a Charlestown film. At least that would be logical since Charlestown is on the Mystic River and Southie is not. The author Dennis Lehane actually set it in a fictitious neighborhood called Buckingham which he saw as an amalgam of all of Boston's tough, white neighborhoods - Charlestown, Dorchester, Southie, and Allston. But Hollywood just seems to love South Boston even if they don't know where it is.

  18. I could totally go for this: http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh116/Willets_Point/Picture1.png
  19. Congrats! It's all downhill from here.
  20. AG/DC wrote: Hotter when not wearing pants. That doesn't particularly distinguish her. I'm sure that there are plenty of people who are hotter when wearing pants.
  21. My fetish for librarians is perfectly healthy thank you very much.
  22. Lisa Loeb is hot.
  23. Ooooh....SIMULPOST!!!
  24. I like how Soupy predicts that the AL will award two Wild Cards but the AL West will be without a champion.
