  2. more J-Lo butt shots, please!
  3. wow... a "black"mail photo! does that hat make me look fat? Or is it just caused by my surplus of blubberage?
  4. ]He said he was just missing the strike zone with his pitches, thus explaining the many walks yep, that'll do it every time.
  5. Glavine 4.50 Beltran 2.25 LoDuca 1.00 Delgado 0.75 Mota 0.75 Wagner 0.75
  6. so the Mets won 4 of his 7 starts, and his line was 42 IP / 38h / 13bb /35k / 22er over those starts, which is roughly about a 4.71 era and a 1.21 whip, with a K:BB ratio of 2.7:1. I would take that over Perez, Williams and even Trax. Of course, he's been in the pen all year and hasn't been stretched out to go 5+ innings, so its a moot point. But i don't agree that he's necessarily more valuable to the Mets as a guy throwing 80 IP than he would throwing 180 IP, especially now that Willie is going with Mota as a setup guy, and with Sanchez likely coming back next season.

Without having seen them, I'd wager they would indicate a pitcher whose more valuable pitching more innings than Oliver perez or Dave Williams... and probably better than Trax, too.

  13. a quote in today's NY Post from Francesa: "We basically gave him a hard time," Francesa said. "You feel terrible about that." You'll notice he said "You" would feel terrible not "I" feel terrible. In other words, he used the 2nd person voice. Not even a passive "one feels terrible", but "you". A total displacement of his obvious feelings of guilt.Like all bullies, he's even too gutless to take responsibility for his own feelings. "oh, vic, its just an expression. you know what he means". well of course i know what he means. he means he feels terrible, just like anybody else would, thus laying off his guilt as a natural response anyone would have in his position. Own it, Mikey. Your a professional bully. A guy you just bullied on the air flew a plane into a building. If you feel bad about it, say so. don't deflect, evade, water down, pacify, neutralize, or obfuscate your feelings about it. Am i being overly fussy about his choice of words? Oh, i guess so. After all, why would a guy who gets paid millions to communicate his opinions with words spoken on the radio be accountable for the words he chooses to use? IMO, words are important, and the words we choose to use reveal our character.
  14. from my MFY-fan brother: ]Bad logic. Bad definition. Clutch pitching is not the ability to wiggle out of jams, it is the ability to keep the other team from scoring in big games. Wiggling out of jams is the specialty of ground ball pitchers, since by their nature they give up a lot of hits, mostly ground balls hit between infielders, and generate a lot of double plays, mostly ground balls hit at infielders. A Randy Johnson type doesn't let anybody on in the first place. By this guy's reconing he isn't as clutch as Glavine or Ford. By my reckoning, I've seen him pitch big on one days rest and win a division playoff single-handedly (1995) - he didn't wiggle out of jams because nobody ever got on. That's clutch pitching. Sandy Koufax winning all 3 games of the '65 world series, the last a shutout on 2 days rest, is clutch pitching.
  15. Tonight, i'm going to be in Upper Box, section 34, towards LF. Since I'll be closer to the rain than the rest of you, i'll let you know when it hits.

  22. ] it was about the difference between a balllplayer being "assinged" versus "Optioned". i think a ballplay that has been "assinged" has had his ass set on fire.
