1. Jose Canseco said steroids. Perhaps he was right.
2. ="ScarletKnight41"]Screech, the obese Nationals mascot, shoves Mini Knight around and karate chops the banner. It's absolutely criminal that they put Youppi out of a job for this guy.
3. Hey, OO. I don't think you were properly welcomed. So... welcome aBordick.edit: HOLY crap I'm Mike Bordick just as I post that. FREAKY.
4. I e-mailed SK's handheld, thanking them for providing the good mojo. Perhaps we should have a Schaefer CPOTG (Crane Pooler Of The Game) for this one as well.
5. And just like that, it's over. That was a good W. Came back, hustled, got clutch hits, tacked on insurance runs... very nice.
6. A Duff point for Offerman, two for Jose.
7. Reyes steals second, which causes SS Jamey Carroll to shadow him, which opens up a slight hole on the left side... which Jose Offerman whacks a single through, scoring Reyes. Nice AB by Offerman.
8. Matt Cepicky is already the 44th player the Nationals have used this season. The record for a full season is 59 (I think). How the hell is this team in first place? Dammit.
9. Carlos Baerga is wearing sunglesses at bat. It looks odd to me for some reason.
10. GET A HIT IN A BIG SPOT, CARLOS!Dammit.2-2.GET UP and stretch.
11. Daubach Ks, but leadoff hitter Cameron drives in seventh-hitter Reyes tying up the game at 2.Nice job with the lineup, Willie.
12. Heads-up play by David Wright, who stays in a rundown long enough to allow Reyes to sneak into third base behind him. So the Nats get an out, but rather than first and second, they get first and third.Woodward could have made it to second easily, but he pulls up lame at first and is removed for Gerald Williams. So what could have been a good play winds up leaving guys at the same bases.Daubach up to pinch-hit for Bell.I smell a double play.
13. Keith Hernandez calls the Nats the "Senators." You're not that old, Keith, are you? Yikes.
14. Single by Anderson and a nice double down the left field line by Wright puts runners at 2nd and 3rd with noooooooobody out and Luis Ayala coming into the game. COME ON, Metsies.
15. As we go to the top of the seventh, opposing pitchers in the last 18 innings:5 H3 BB16 KFugly.
16. Heath Bell comes in, gets two outs, and we go to the seventh down 2-0.
17. If you were a Cardinals fan, and your team was on the road in Game 7 of the 2005 World Series because the AL stole four or five bases against Mike Piazza in the first inning, leading to a bunch of runs, would you be pissed? I suppose you'd be happy that you're in the World Series, but a lot of people would be talking about it, the way we remember Blalock's homer of Gagne last summer.Gotta get this "this one matters" crap outta here, I agree.
18. Looks like it's you and me today, SI. 2-0 Bad Guys in the bottom of the sixth as the Nats chase Ishii. The CPF mojo is not working today.
19. Want to really spit? Name G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO HBP SB CS AVG SLG George Foster, 1982 78 289 36 78 10 0 9 37 32 67 1 0 0 .270 .398 Carlos Beltran, 2005 74 286 32 75 19 1 9 40 24 53 1 4 2 .262 .430 Bobby Bonilla, 1992 79 270 42 72 18 0 10 46 49 51 1 4 1 .267 .444
20. When was the last time there were as many Mets as Yankees going to the All-Star game? (And this year, Sheffield might not even belong there, even though he was selected as a reserve.) This is the first time since 1996 that the MFYs have had as few as three All-Stars.Props to the voters for getting Derrek Lee, Mark Teixeira and Brian Roberts correct. No props to anybody for leaving Cliff Floyd off the roster. Can we switch him in for Beltran? Do you think anyone will notice?Let's get out there and make sure Jeter and Matsui don't get voted in as the extra player. Vote Carl Crawford or Scott Podsednik, everybody!

DC Days

It's both interesting and yet completely bizarre that we can get the play-by-play of everyone's trip to DC. Wish we could be there. Perhaps next year. We went out for ice cream last night, and I almost got a Nationals helmet sundae to be with you in solidarity... then I realized that I hat the Nationals (no pun intended), so I got it in a regular dish instead.

23. If he clears waivers, I'd sign him. Can't do any less than Masuiro have done, and maybe he can play defense.story
24. It's slowly becoming my standard line, but John Franco could be a Duck. In fact, he'd make a good Duck.
25. NO points for you, Carlos!Benson 3Bell 2Wright 2Reyes 3
