1. 1977: 38th overall draft pick who went 1 for 17 in 19 games, spent parts of three seasons in Toronto, then never made it back to the bigs. 2. 1982-1984: 0-17 in 58 MLB games, all as a Met and mostly in the bullpen; never got a major league hit. Still the only MLBer from Churubusco HS, Indiana. 3. 1993: Got a 1992 Bowman card, making everyone say "Who?" Then went 1-17 in 1993 and never made it back to the bigs. 4. 1994-95: 0-17 as a Met; best known as a Brave, where he gave up a walk-off HR in the 1999 WS.

José Fernandez Killed in Boating Accident

Ashie62 wrote: Still want a uni patch for Jose? http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/investigation-into-jose-fernandez-crash-concludes-he-was-driving-boat-intoxicated/ My moral compass says no. I got laughed down when I suggested a uni patch might not be the best idea. End result? three dead young men dead. That's kind of my point. It taints the memory a bit too much for me; I don't know that I'd want to hold him up as a beacon all season long. -
And that's six! Strong showing by the field today. 1. 1967: Finished his career 2-18 with the Mets. Famously lost a one-hitter to the Dodgers while with the Cubs. BOB HENDLEY 2. 1984-85: Appeared in just 148 major league games and went only 3-18 as a Met, but might have a compelling Hall of Fame case some day. BILLY BEANE 3. 1997-2001: Only 1 for 18 at the plate in 285 games. MR. WENDELL 4. 2002: Deadline deal acquisition who got 5 hits in 18 AB in 9 starts as a Met. JOHN THOMSON 5. 2013-14: 3 for 18 as a September callup/backup infielder. WILFREDO TOVAR 6. 2014-16: 0 for 18 at the plate, but will hopefully get more shots at his first MLB hit this year despite taking a step backward last year. José Fernandez Killed in Boating Accident

Frayed Knot wrote: Now will come the disputes over who was driving the boat, and whether there is a basis to sue Fernandez. And the answers are: 1) Fernandez, and 2) yes -- according to the results of the police report which became public today. The families of the other two victims were already in the process of suing to get a payout from JF's estate anyway, but this certainly gives them more ammo for their case. In fact the report added that, had Jose survived the crash, the circumstances dictated that he would be brought up on manslaughter charges. The boat was doing 65 mph at the time of the crash. I wonder about situations like this now that the raw sadness is gone. You want to honor his on-field success, but at the same time, this looks like he was being a complete jackass. -

If all goes according to plan, flying down to PSL on Sunday to watch Mets-Marlins with a friend who works for JetBlue.

Boom. Greg cleans the deck. OLD: 1. 1964-66: Drafted from the Phillies, he pitched his way back and forth from AAA for three years, and went 5-for-21 at the plate. His brother had a much more successful career. Tall, skinny righthander who got a 1966 Topps card as a Met, and a 1968 Topps card with Cleveland. DARRELL SUTHERLAND NEW: 1. 1985: Was completely worthless at the plate over 9,000 times since 1970; confirmed that by going 2-for-19 as a Met. LARRY BOWA 2. 1993: 5-for-19, all but one AB as a pinch-hitter. Probably best known as a Cub; couldn't find any good trivia about him at all. CED LANDRUM 3. 1998: Was a productive major leaguer at five positions from 1993-1997. Went 5-19 as a Met. Was a productive major leaguer at five positions from 1999-2002. CRAIG PAQUETTE 4. 2001-02: 3-19 with 9 K's. Still pitching as recently as 2015. 22 home runs, which isn't enough to save him as a Met. Godspeed, Lucas.

Has a wonderful season lighting up the Vegas night with dingers.

I like him in that Verrett role, except with talent. 80 innings, 4.10 ERA.

Dude caught a fuckin' BAT. A BAT. Spends the season in AAA, regardless.

Starts the season in the rotation, but only winds up starting 17 games. Wins ten games in a combination of starting and bullpen work.

.260/.320/.360 in 300 AB.
