  1. Maybe getting busted up knocked something in Carlos's head back into place.
  2. Benson 6Floyd 2Williams 1Reyes .5Woodward .5
  3. Kevin MitchellKurt Abbott - funny story... I went to Game 1 of the 2000 WS, and Bob Sheppard announces Abbott as Kurt Abbot-t, saying the t twice.Masato Yoshii - oh wait, those are vowelsAll the Bells we've ever had
  4. Absolutely. If the Mets hadn't traded Joe Randa, would we have ever seen David Wright?

Left side of the infield = Untouchable. We must never trade Wright or Reyes, and we must throw everything at them if they become free agents in the future.
  6. Martinez 6Wright 1.45Floyd 1.45Diaz 1Williams .1
  7. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Song of the day:"Superstitious" - Stevie Wonder
  9. I wouldn't retire either of them, but I would still give Doc a passing glance.
  10. Here's my reasoning: Doc stayed. Straw left. Strawberry's been in and out of jail more. He disgraced himself more, in my opinion.
  11. The Mets have retired four numbers:37 - Casey Stengel14 - Gil Hodges41 - Tom Seaver42 - Jackie Robinson (retired throughout baseball)There have been a few other players (and managers) that have touched this franchise in such a way that I believe they merit at least discussion of retiring their numbers. Here's my list:Plan the Ceremony:31 - Mike Piazza8 - Gary CarterConsider This:16 - Dwight Gooden17 - Keith Hernandez21 - Cleon Jones22 - Al Leiter36 - Jerry Koosman50 - Sid FernandezConundrum:5 - Davey Johnson/(but you wouldn't want to displace) David Wright?31 - Mike Piazza/John Franco?45 - Tug McGraw/John Franco/(maybe after all is said and done) Pedro Martinez?Wait and See:5 - David Wright7 - Jose ReyesSnorted His Way Out:18 - Darryl StrawberryWhat do you all think? Personally I think we've got a little bit of a problem regarding how we retire Captain John Franco. 31 or 45? Do we double up with Mike or Tugger, because if Franco gets 45, Tug has to be retired as well at 45? What about Pedro? It's a weird one we've got here.
  12. Screw the whole "We gotta have Zambrano in the rotation because of Kazmir" thing. Nobody has to prove anything to anybody. That's like throwing Kaz Matsui out there every day to "prove" that he deserves his contract. Or what we did with Mo Vaughn. Of course, Victor's been all right, but still, it's the same principle, and it ultimately hurts a team.
  13. Seo - 5Williams - 1.5Wright - 1Castro - 1Reyes - 1Floyd - .5
  14. Taken from Ryne Sandberg's Yahoo Sports column:With baseball "reeling" from the steroid stuff, do you think that baseball needs heroes that can bring the game out of the scandal? The first name that comes to mind is Albert Pujols. He plays hard, he's humble, he's a role model and he's put up consistent numbers every year, even this year. That indicates to me that he's "clean." David ChoiQueens, N.Y. Definitely. There are a few players that have the ability to bring the game back to the national pastime. Off the top of my head are Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Mark Teixeira and David Wright. These are the players that baseball should be relying on to put the game back into a positive light. I would also look to the veterans of the league that understand and respect the game: Derek Jeter, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio.
  15. How about an all-facial-hair team?
  16. Drugs. No surprise there...What the hell was he doing with bullets in the car, though? Where's the gun?
  17. Seo 5Wright 2Reyes 1Cairo 1Beltran 1
  18. There was also the great Rube Marquard.
  19. How do you guys calculate this?
  20. #3 is the immortal Mike Birkbeck.
  21. WHAT THE HELL???How dumb ARE you Willie? How moronic could you possibly be? You knew it was going to catch up to Roberto Hernandez sooner or later. He's 40 freaking years old, and you send him out there for a FOURTH consecutive day in the August heat, which he has stated many times he hates to pitch in? After he shows the signs of crumbling in his two previous outings? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?!
  22. Does it have to be one a year? I think it's counter-intuitive- it creates way too big a backlog.
  23. Ishii must leave, immediately. Graves must go down to Norfolk to work on his stuff. We've got talent in our organization, let's start bringing them up!
  24. Valent should come up immediately to platoon at 1B with Manker. Other than that, I'd say that this offseason, we need to start a youth movement. Bring up our prospects.
