  12. Great article. However, he's got his dates confused - he says he had that meeting with Leiter in '97... but in '97 he was pitching the Marlins to their first World Championship. So it must have been later.

  16. I believe Valent is still on the 40-man roster.
  17. Let's see... Randy Johnson had his run-in with the cameraman. Gary Sheffield claimed he knew who the leader was. We've had our share of potheads (Mark Corey, Grant Roberts) and drunks (David Wells) in New York. There have been crybabies (Jeff Weaver, Kevin Brown) and prima donnas (Roberto Alomar, Rickey Henderson, Pedro Martinez). Rey Ordonez was shipped out of here for dissing New York, just as Danny Graves arrived here for flipping off Cincinnati. There are a lot of larger-than-life characters in New York baseball... but this is New York, the city that never sleeps, and so they might just get drowned out by the sheer amount of news that comes out of this city.
  18. I've been in class the whole game. Somebody brief me, please.
  19. How are those final standings coming?
  20. Trachsel is still a Met.
  21. And that brings up a good point: why do we have the Tides constantly run away with their division while we languish in mediocrity?
  22. Without Mike Piazza, would we have had '99 and 2000?
  23. Good point.
  24. Actually, it's more like double and a half crappiness...
  25. This is ridiculous.Everybody shut up already!
