  1. I predict he'll save a lot of money on shampoo this year.
  2. Seconded on the H2H league format. More dramatic and a nice reset each week.
  3. Glad you decided to play, Irish ! I'm ready
  4. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 357 9/9: Rarity: 126 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 ATL/PHL - Bruce Chen .7 BAL/PHL - Curt Schilling 18 40WAR/PHL - Pete Rose 5 ATL/PIT - Sid Bream 29 BAL/PIT - Kris Benson 4 40WAR/PIT - Paul Waner 3 ATL/SD - Greg Maddux 18 BAL/SD - Manny Machado 47 40WAR/SD - Ozzie Smith 3
  5. Was trying to come up with all nine players who were former Mets but could not come up with a former 3B/MVP. Missed a couple of obvious ones when I looked at the answers. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 356 9/9: Rarity: 49 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 C/ASG - Paul LoDuca .9 C/MVP - Yogi 13 C/NONUS - Ramon Castro .5 3B/ASG - Robin Ventura 1 3B/MVP - A-Rod 18 3B/NONUS - Edgardo Alfonso 1 CF/ASG - Lee Mazzilli .5 CF/MVP - Willie Mays 12 CF/NONUS - Carlos Gomez 1
  6. I wish I could glom on to some rich idiot celebrity and do some siphoning. That sounds like da life
  7. Great story, good on him. Hope he votes Democrat this fall
  8. Forgot to watch game 2 - was not working from home and things were too explodey at my work for me to multitask. Good news is, Mets opener on Thursday, normally an in-office day, but I am working from home so that I can drive my wife in for a medical procedure, and thereby freeing me up to watch the game in the afternoon. Fortuitous timing
  9. I must have seen him pitch last season, though I can't say I have a specific memory of it, here in the 'Cuse. I will try to remember to keep an eye out for this kid. Opening day is a week away but it's only going to get up to 30 degrees today. March baseball is stupid essentially everywhere besides a domed stadium or a Grapefruit/Cactus league game, but it's especially stupid here where I live.
  10. Love it. Lineup just got deeper and better.
  11. =duan post_id=149345 time=1710949769 user_id=99] quick thing. Going to purchase tickets for the Sunday game shortly and the tickets on SeatGeek seem a decent bit cheaper then those on the mets.com - even with their horrendous fees and charges. Any experiences with any of the re-sellers?
  12. =bmfc1 post_id=149336 time=1710937597 user_id=73] There would be nothing wrong with MLBN showing a KBO game in the morning instead of mindless chit-chat. Watching baseball is better than talking about baseball.
  13. Not a fan of the umpire cam. Plus games in domed stadiums in Asia always seem very cavernous and echo-ey to me.
  14. Thanks for the reminder! Working from home today so now I have the game on while I work.
  15. First game of 2024 that I watched from end to end. They looked good, not a ton of hitting but enough to get it done. Manaea looked sharp as well
  16. Frayed Knot wrote: So $31M per year on average. I wonder if he's still going to claim that 'I ain't makin' shit' as he did during the pandemic year when he was forced to scrape by on a mere $7.5/per? Fuck this guy
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: The guy probably figured that if he's gong to have his 2024 salary slashed from an anticipated $7.5M down to about 1/3 of that it would help him tighten his belt to his new budget if he didn't also have to pay a moving company to haul his stuff across the country. He can just keep all his stuff in the upper deck of the Coliseum. It's safe up there
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He'll be back by May 15. 10-8, 3.60 ERA. 120 innings. I wish I had this much optimism but sadly I've been a Mets fan long enough to assume worse (not that BG hasn't but still)
  19. =MFS62 post_id=148901 time=1710368476 user_id=60] Grae Kessinger is the grandson of Don Kessinger, a long time major league shortstop. Some good infield bloodlines there. Later
  20. JD is a nickname that a lot of people end up with if their first name begins with J and their last name begins with D and they are both fairly common handles. I have a former coworker John Daniel who goes by that same moniker
  21. Edgy MD wrote: The offense is a much bigger concern, and they look more like the feast-or-famine 2023 version of the team rather than the keep-the-line-moving 2022 edition. This has me anxious. Watching them play all year waiting for the nine run homer that never came. Tough to watch 6-7 days a week
  22. I like that they've waited JD out. I think they get him cheaper now than they would have in the dark days of winter
  23. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 345 9/9: Rarity: 55 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Also generally happy with a two digit rarity score. OAK/MIN - Rich Hill 3 MIN/OF - Michael Cuddyer 2 MIN/200W - Jerry Koosman 1 OAK/TEX - Jose Canseco 28 TEX/OF - Gary Matthews Jr 2 TEX/200W - Fergie Jenkins 8 CLE/OAK - Bartolo Colon 6 CLE/OF - Vic Wertz .3 CLE/200W - Gaylord Perry 6
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: Darryl is now eligible to start collecting Social Security, but he'd be better off waiting until he's 70. (Every day I get several articles in my Google News feed from Motley Fool telling me that it's better to collect at 70 than at 62.) Why so ? The longer you wait to collect, the greater your monthly benefit. You should only collect at 62 if you absolutely need the money, or if you have strong reason to suspect that you won't live to be 80. My mother in law did this, short sighted as usual, and now gets by on a pittance of a monthly check, with no real savings to speak of.
  25. We watched until Diaz pitched then switched to 'Shogun.' Megill looked sharp. I'm bullish on this rotation right now.
