  9. This is just a leverage ploy against Boras regarding Bregman/Alonso, I would venture to guess. Profar is a former Boras client who bounced to other representation last year. Not sure if that matters but it seems like it might here.

  12. =Cowtipper post_id=183387 time=1737400323 user_id=166] Pathetically underutilized by the Mets. Could have forged a solid big league career, but New York stymied that. He's now 31 years old with just 81 games under his belt, thanks to NY giving him just 22 appearances and 95 1/3 innings since 2021. Started out with promise with San Diego in 2018, but that promise was snuffed out because of New York's mismanagement of him. The Mets surrendered a Baseball America top-25 prospect (Endy Rodriguez) to get him, too, making it that much worse.
  13. Good thing combined no hitters are allowed because I would have otherwise had no clue on that one (this is yesterday's). ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 657 9/9: Rarity: 81 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref 1RD/1TM - David Wright 2 1RD/NOH - Doc 9 1RD/ROY - Daryl 4 ASG/1TM - Jim Rice .5 ASG/NOH - Carlos Zambrano 1 ASG/ROY - Fred Lynn 6 OF/1TM - Dom Dimaggio .2 OF/NOH - Babe Ruth 56 OF/ROY - Todd Hollandsworth 3

  16. For all of Pete's self-professed Mets love over the years, don't forget that he rejected a $150+ million dollar offer during the summer of 2023 so that he could play the market. I loved rooting for the guy but he dug his own hole here by getting progressively worse for the last couple of seasons and holding out for the big payday. I'm sure the MLBPA and his agency has a role in that decision too, but, ultimately, some people actually do take less money to play where they already love playing. And some are Pete. There, I said it. I think the Mets pivot and spend and still upgrade the roster before opening day 2025. I know they want to see what they have in some of the younger bats but the Cohen regime generally has been willing to spend on positional help. They did it very late in the game last spring with the J.D. signing and I think hopefully they learned not to let things linger on so long - get these guys situated in time for a proper spring training at least.

  18. It'd be a pretty big bummer to see him wearing someone else's colors in 2025. Especially if the intent is to not sign Bregman or Santander and just go with the cheaper in-house options (Acuna, Mauricio, Baty), none of which have a proven MLB track record. So we're potentially plus Soto but minus Alonso, and JD Martinez's numbers. And the rotation is a downgrade from the 2024 rotation, at least on paper. So I'm not getting a warm fuzzy from this one
  19. SNY via Andy Martino reporting Jesse Winker signing to be a Met for 2025. Love it
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I suspect that Santander is the Plan B. And the Mets don't want to continue dithering with Pete and have Santander slip through their fingers. I've been operating under the idea that it was Bregman, and not Santander, as the plan B. I think those are the two most accomplished hitters left on the FA market. Based on 2024 WAR they are, anyway. Don't know if it matters, but Bregman is also a Boras client. Santander is not, at least if you believe what the Googles tell you

  22. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be changing their name (for two games) to the Bathtub Donkeys in response to an obscure NYS law. https://www.si.com/mlb/mets-minor-league-team-adopting-new-team-name-obscure-donkey-lawhttps://www.si.com/mlb/mets-minor-league-team-adopting-new-team-name-obscure-donkey-law I preferred it when they were the Binghamton Mets. But that's because I'm not four years old. BORING. Minor league baseball is supposed to be quirky and weird. I disagree. The same reason I have no need at all for the Savanna Fucking Bananas. I like baseball because it's baseball. I don't need cutesy poo nicknames, scoreboard hysterics, theme nights, or any of that. And I live in Syracuse and I attend quite a bit of minor league baseball, and have my entire life having always lived away from all of the MLB cities, so I've had time to formulate my own opinions on this topic.

  25. One other piece of advice I'd give would be to look for seats on TickPick.com - seems to have the best prices and without all of the sneaky fees that show up between when you pick tickets and when you pay the bill. For our last few trips I've waited until just a few days out to buy mine (you can do that for a Wednesday afternoon matinee against the Pirates).
