  1. Sounds like something Pinella would concoct to offset a weak Tampa Bay pen...
  2. Bad Bad Bad--- Another RH reliever, and one who can walk after 06-- no thanks. Seo's a proven commodity, and Matsui's...well...
  3. As Homer Simpson once said to a ballpark patron who objected to his antics: , "Paying admission gives me the right-- no, the responsibility-- to act like an ass." (or words to that effect).
  4. I think David Wells was right-- some Met benchwarmer should've slapped Roger, getting both of them ejected. I'd take that trade anyday.
  5. ]mlbaseballtalk wrote: RF Been a revolving door for some time now. The last back-to-back team leader in games played was "Mr. 5 Tools" Alex Ochoa in 96 and 97 Wow. That would have been a neat trivia question. No way I would have gotten that one without cheating. And you're Alex Ochoa!
  6. Nats grab LHP Mike Stanton for a year...
  7. Jim Brower is worth a look-- pitched well for SF-- could be a Berto-replacement.
  8. Quote: Alou, Pierre and Jones sounds better (alot) than Alou, Patterson, and Burnitz. Alou has been a Giant since last season. D'OH! Too much (or not enough) egg nog.
  9. Jacque Jones: 3 years with Cubbies. Alou, Pierre and Jones sounds better (alot) than Alou, Patterson, and Burnitz.
  10. ]Am I the only one who has a hard time with Charlie Samuels being the one who makes this decision? Me too-- I always thought the starting pitcher made that determination.
  11. Gary Gaetti (guy-yetti)
  12. LoDuca arrived after Jacobs was dealt, no?
  13. Grudzy off the market, siging with KC (as does Mientkiewicz)-- that's one helluva scrabble infield!
  14. "Perfect for someone who loves basebealls or historically items..."
  15. I voted other, since I detest Jose Oquendo.
  16. Julio Franco is so old his rookie card is a daguerrotype
  17. Does this open the door for Nomar's return to Boston?
  18. Ray King to Colorado for Larry Bigbie. In the rarefied air of Coors Field, how long till opponents are raking Ray King? (sorry)
  19. Rumor has Big Hurt coming to Oakland--- Do you see the Mets taking a flyer on any of these? Maybe Todd Greene? Juan Encarnacion? Fick? Hammond? Matt White? Burnitz?
  20. Where's Preston Wilson??
  21. A's reliever Ricardo Rincon. He was the only of Oakland's five eligibles to be offered arbitration, and he rejected it. Last year he was 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA in 67 games. ]Rincon, who over his career has allowed the lowest percentage of inherited runners to score -- 19.2 -- among all big league relievers since 1974, has until Dec. 19 to accept the arbitration offer. Should he reject it, the A's have until Jan. 8 to negotiate and sign him. MLB.com has learned that Rincon has already agreed to reject the offer, and the club will wait to see how their expected addition of a right-handed power hitter affects the payroll before making Rincon a free-agent offer. If Rincon is retained, the A's would have to make another move with the pitching staff, because the recent addition of free agent righty Esteban Loazia gives them 12 pitchers who spent the entire 2005 season in the big leagues: Rincon, Loaiza, Duchscherer, Zito, Rich Harden, Joe Blanton, Dan Haren, Kirk Saarloos, Joe Kennedy, Kiko Calero, Jay Witasick and Huston Street. Oakland never carried more than 11 pitchers before September.
  22. Late Wednesday, another rumor popped up, with the Phillies said to have offered outfielder Bobby Abreu, catcher Mike Lieberthal and pitching prospect Gavin Floyd for lefty Barry Zito and catcher Jason Kendall.
  23. I'd have preferred Omar land Loretta than Nady for Mike C. He's rock-steady, and solid if unspectacular Hell, I'd have almost prefer Mirabelli over LoDuca. IMO, Loretta and Mirabelli>>LoDuca and Nady
  24. My money's on the Yanks going for Milton Bradley.
  25. ]weird that when Pittsburgh finally decides to splurge on a player, they get an overpaid one. Looks like Kevin Young might have company as most-overpaid 1B men in Buccos history...
