  1. They play the good teams tough (6-4 against the O's, Pads and Snakes). Watch them drop 2 of 3 to the White Sox.
  2. Well, back to Mednoza, he's probably done the best he could do with the tools at hand. I'm not always enamored with his handling of the bullpen, but there are a lot of bad options there. I did find it interesting that Gary and Ron yesterday referred to him as 'Mendy'. Sounds like they're already in the fan club.
  3. =Gwreck post_id=167615 time=1724629551 user_id=56] I have no problem with the bullpen management. The whole point of Butto in the bullpen is to give you 2 inning outings. San Diego is a very good team and is (significantly?) better than the Mets on an overall raw talent level. The better team usually wins, and a 2-2 record against them in San Diego is not a bad showing. The series losses to Anaheim and Oakland, splitting with Miami, getting swept by Seattle…those are the unacceptable outcomes.
  4. Brazoban seems determined to give it all back. If you can't trust him with a 7 run lead, perhaps he should, you know, not be playing baseball.
  5. Quintana was quietly not superb at all last time out. Threw almost as many balls as strikes, 4 ER, 4 walks and 7 hits in 4 innings.
  6. Well, that last one is a bit problematic.
  7. Rogers can be nasty and is much better than his 2-11 record.
  8. More bullpen madness. Garrett faced four batters in the 8th and walked three of them.
  9. Garrett was good in April. He's not good now.
  10. There was a fully rested bullpen. Brazoban should not be in the circle of trust..
  11. Brazoban is - what's the word- shitty.
  12. Whatever system they have, somebody will try to game it. I think there would have to be a pitch limit in an inning, which is something Gary and Ron discussed. I like the intent, but I'm not so sure it would work out in practice. The problem is that organizations coddle pitchers from the beginning, and they don't build up pitch counts and innings counts in the minors. You'd have to blow up their whole minor league development system.
  13. =Centerfield post_id=166563 time=1723756429 user_id=65] Also. I'm pretty sure the Mets never win the day camp game. Year after year. Send the kids home miserable while Yankee fans laugh.
  14. This is painful to watch. They have no pitching whatsoever.
  15. Huascar Brazoban pitching like Huascar Madison. But he escapes.
  16. You get the feeling that the OMG and Grimace fairy dust is wearing off, and this is what they really are as a team. Not enough pitching, not enough hitting, not enough bullpen.
  17. I've woken up to WCBS every day since the '80's. This is like losing a family friend.
  18. Gives a whole new meaning to 'a drive up the alley'.
  19. Oh my. The absolute pinnacle of Tom Jones' acting career. A deliberately silly movie and I loved it. I've been afraid to listen to Slim Whitman ever since, though.
  20. Well, we'll always have that one inning in Yankee Stadium, won't we?
  21. Things starting to come apart for Tylor. Just not as sharp.
  22. AS always, I am simply amazed DJ Stewart gets playing time. Even if he goes 4-4 with a grand slam today I will still be amazed.
  23. How do you say 'shitfuck' in Japanese?
  24. If Megill pitches a gem today, they'll really be living a charmed life....
