  1. Well, let's just say Jacob doesn't have it tonight.
  2. Ball is carrying in Philly tonight. LagBoom.

  4. Just don't trust the Phillies. They've been bad but they're playing better these days, and they'd love to stick it to the Mets. And losing a cancer like Papelbon usually helps more than it hurts.
  5. Collins was the guy they chose to keep the lights on and not make a fuss with Sandy or the Wilpons. It's a task he's performed admirably. I've had a lot of issues with playing favorites and bullpen management and such, but one thing has always been a constant throughout his tenure- the players play hard for him. It's not anything you can quantify in a box score, but seeing how Jose Reyes dogged it this weekend, you can feel what that can bring to a ballclub. Players seem to like Terry Collins. And most of the time, face it, the ghost of John McGraw couldn't have won with the cast of misfit toys he was saddled with. If they make the playoffs he's probably back. Hell, if they make the playoffs, he's probably in the running for manager of the year.

We also have a season-series advantage over the Dodgers which I presume would be the tiebreaker for home-field advantage if they finished with the same record. Interesting. The Giants are coming on strong, though. Mets split the season series with them 3-3. If the next tiebreaker is record within the division, Mets are 30-17 while Giants are 18-15 and Dodgers are 19-13.
  7. Keith even thinks Recker's dogs are dreamy.
  8. Robles getting 2-3-4 in the Rockies lineup. Hope he's up to the task.
  9. Verrett coulda popped up, too, Terry.
  10. Terry's incapable of letting a pitcher go 9. I'd be shocked if he didn't pinch hit and go with Carlos Torres. It's what he does. Whoa, Cespedes. Shoetops.
  11. CarGo with the bomb. But that can happen to anybody, and Verrett shook it off nicely.
  12. Gotta keep scoring, though. No lead is safe.
  13. I know Terry was trying to nurse him through 5, but with that welt on his forearm he should have been on a shorter leash.
  14. Problem is, as we all know, his platoon partner would be Coach Cuddy, who singles occasionally but does little else these days.
  15. Got a bad feeling about The Fat Man in Colorado. Hope I'm wrong.
  16. When the magic number gets below 40, things are starting to get real.......
  17. Poor Jim Tatum looks like he was dumped in the desert with nothing but a baseball bat.
  18. Boy, it'd be nice to put a little distance between the Mets and the Nats before the Nats woke up. They seem to be in a light coma right now.
  19. When you owe $10,000, the bank owns you. When you owe $700 million, you own the bank.
  20. Whoa. Nice Houdini act by Noah.
  21. Hm. Those two gift runs looking pretty good right now.
