  1. Y'know, the only guy Kevin Long seems to have helped with his hitting is Daniel Murphy. This team gets killed by the shift. Everybody tried to pull the ball and they're waiting. Granderson. Conforto. Plawecki. Duda. Flores. Cespedes is actually one of the better hitters at going the other way, as is Cabrera. Walker got pull-happy after hitting 10 quick homers. They need to change their approach as much as they need to change their personnel.
  2. Fortunately, they get a breather when they go to Chicago for four with the Cubs. Oh wait...........
  3. Can't catch that much lightning, unfortunately. They won't lose out, but they'll be under .500 shortly. There's just no life to this offense, and they do little things wrong that cost them games. They've even stopped hitting home runs. They need a structural overhaul. But you can't tell David Wright his career is over and it's time to move on. You can't trade a Granderson unless you eat most of the contract. Lucas Duda is not the answer at first even when healthy. You can't plan on Cespedes after this year. The catching is a disaster. The rotation is fragile right now, and Wheeler's still a ways away. Jose Reyes, bless his soul, won't really fix much of this. The question is, should they be sellers if they tank and who do you sell?
  4. Ugh. It's not 2015, boys. They're not going to lay down for you. Keith was getting pissed at Loney. He doesn't lay out for things to his right- he just lets them go. The running game was in Thor's head. He needs to fix this because any team with a modicum of speed is going to use it against him. I think Terry was right to pull him when he did. But they had a chance to put this game away in the early innings and just didn't do it. Ross was throwing meatballs and they didn't take advantage.

At least add to it Tell me about Jefferies' porn collection. Tell me that he missed the toilet when peed. Really, is there a whinier personality in baseball than Dykstra? Lenny "wrote" an article in the New York Post today to promote the book, recalling the day of his trade to the Mets, how he was 3-3 when Johnson took him out of the game. Of course, that silly thing called the record says he was 1-3. Why do we want so badly to be bullshitted by obvious scoundrels? When did this come to pass? Ooh! Ooh! I know this!!!
  6. No harm intended, and best of luck with your mom. It just always seemed very self-serving when your name is over the door and you own an entity that donates to you. I'm sure they do good work, it just always struck me as odd. At least they're not donating to the Wilpon Center for Financial Management.
  7. 'Describe this car using just emojis'.
  8. Gregg Jefferies: " ... losing player, not to mention a whiny little bitch." Well, at least he's not 100% wrong.
  9. Well, there's the Katz Institute for Women's Health, which gets a contribution to Uncle Saul's favorite charity with every Met win. Wonder if he ever transgressed.
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't think it's that stunning. The Rockies are still on the hook for 2017, so the same rules apply regarding the Mets only being required to pay the minimum salary. Reyes could have insisted on a one-year deal, which would have allowed him to shop his cheap salary around to other teams for next year, but since the Mets are clearly his preference, I'm not surprised that the Mets were able to leverage him into a two-year agreement. Even so, if Reyes can show flashes of the ballplayer he used to be that's a bargain. I'm under no illusions that 2006-era Jose will show up. But even a diminished Jose in this lineup could jump-start things.

  12. If the Rockies can eat $38 million on Reyes, the Mets can eat the $17 million for Bastardo and De Aza. And Logan Verrett- not the answer.
  13. My wife and I argued (non-violently) about this. Interestingly, she was a lot more supportive of this move than I was.
  14. Boy, is she going to be pissed when she comes home to a house full of pigeon shit.
  15. That was the weirdest 9th inning I've seen in some time.
  16. Cespedes looked like he turned that ankle pretty badly. Geez, this game went south in all kinds of ways. But Yo! He's still out there!
  17. Matz just crumpled there. Robles saved his bacon, though.
  18. I was certain he was safe. But hey, I'll take it.
  19. Jay is a Wilpon favorite who's cleaned up a lot of messes over the years. I'm guessing Fred and Jeffy aren't too happy with Terry right now. It'll be interesting to see how abject the apology is.
  20. Worries about Thor. They always underplay things.
  21. The Puppy Dog? That's gonna leave a mark.
  22. Daniel Murphy double-clutched and never made the throw home. Maybe they're starting to find out what 'Oh, Murph' means.
  23. Edgy MD wrote: I have no evidence, but I kind of suspect Matt Harvey has had sex with white women. Just a hunch. Was in in a van in Spring training? With M. Donald Grant knocking on the window?
  24. How much money do they have to eat to rid themselves of De Aza?
