  1. I'd be OK with giving him 8. Carter really only had a few good years with the Mets, and he went into the hall as an Expo (which he should have). It's not like they'd be giving him 31. Ron and Keith might grumble a bit. They're holding out the number but they haven't really retired it. It's like 24 (except for Kelvin Torve and Rickey Henderson). I mean, Willie Mays was an awesome player, but he wasn't an awesome player for the Mets.
  2. Since the Marlins are chasing them, this is really a Quadruple Happiness Day.
  3. Malawi Independence Day July 6th and Solomon Islands Independence Day July 7th.
  4. Matt Harvey owes this whole team a steak dinner.

  6. Yoyoyoyoyoyoyoyo!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. This is a 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' game.
  8. Even so, Harvey can't be giving up 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings. You can't give up an RBI hit to a pitcher who's 1 for 25. Just terrible stuff.
  9. I'm sorry but Harvey just didn't man up here. This inning is ridiculous.
  10. Declare your independence: from tyranny, from ugly, bush league hats, and from loyalty to pitchers educated in crayon. National League loss leader Matt Harvey takes on New Rochelle's own Tom Koehler in a battle of pitchers with ERAs in the mid-fours. The ball is flying out, and in the late afternoon of Citi Field, something has to give. You may think, "Oh, the hats CAN'T be any uglier, than we've seen, certainly not any uglier than the July 4th hats of previous years." You would be wrong. So terribly wrong. You're what's wrong with America. You're why we have Trump. I hate you. I hat you and I hate you. Man, I never thought I'd be begging for the camo hats instead. But I am.
  11. Well, he'll probably hit one farther anyway, so they should probably wait.

  13. Just instruct the robot to calculate a batting average from a 1 for 3 night, to the final digit. Problem solved.
  14. Oh sure, Arietta looks good naked, but can he do THIS?
  15. Hey, is baseball allowed to be like this?
  16. Wow, that was nice. Good for the kid.
  17. LOL at Gary: "Restrain yourself. It's a long season and a small booth."
  18. Looks like Cutter will have plenty of time to spend with the kid. Hope Meadow has some acting gigs lined up. Cutter Dykstra released by Harrisburg Senators Sentinel Staff Jun 14, 2016 Long-time Harrisburg Senator and fan favorite on City Island, Cutter Dykstra, was released by the Washington Nationals' organization Tuesday.
  19. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Wow. I confess that I lost faith there. Wow, me too. I could see them go down in flames but Familia just manned up.
  20. Looks like a lineup that can squeak out a run on four hits tonight.
  21. Can't anybody else play right field besides De Aza? Cespedes? Kelly Johnson? The batboy?
  22. The problem there is that the Mets probably lead the league in solo home runs. They don't get on base.
