  1. In 'Good Luck, Tim' it looks like a tiny man is bouncing a basketball on Tebow's head.
  2. 'Joy of Ces' made me laugh, which is an important thing when reviewing 2017.
  3. I'm nervous about Darvish. I'm worried about a decline. Japanese pitchers burn out early because they get overworked at a young age. I would not give him a long-term deal.
  4. How long do players have to accept or reject their QO's?
  5. Billy Wagner was a pretty big get at the time. And in 2002 they went out and got Moe Vaughn, Jeromy Burnitz and Roberto Alomar. It all crashed and burned horribly (Oh the humanity!), but they did make the effort.
  6. Knowing how things turned out makes these optimistic Spring Training covers all the more painful. Yes, Yanks (unless it was a horrible loss/injury) on the cover equally is disqualifying. I Cowboy'd Up because I love Ces in that getup. Is Tebow coming back next year or has he gotten baseball out of his system?
  7. Votto, ay caramba. He'll decline and that beached whale of a contract would be unmovable. I mean, he's getting $25 million when he's 40, six years from now. Hosmer won't be cheap either. Someone's going to throw way too much money at him. If you're going to overpay, get me Stanton. Of course it'll never happen for a million (or 295 million) reasons, but that's a game-changer.
  8. Well, the team they have right now would forfeit. They have two starting pitchers and a bunch of question marks. Dom Smith, whether we like it or not, will be the starter and will be given all year to prove himself. Same for Rosario. I expect that Cabrera's option will be picked up and he'll be penciled in at third. They simply have to pick up another outfielder because you can't have a Cespedes/Nimmo/Lagares outfield play every day until Conforto comes back. I like Nimmo, but he's a 4th outfielder. And they need a real second baseman. I like Dee Gordon more than most. He fills a need. He's not perfect but he's better than Floriveracchini, and he'll be available. But this is doodling on the margins. This team needs a blockbuster, shake-em-all-up deal that I don't think Sandy's capable of. With a weak farm system (that wasn't really improved dramatically by all those fire sale trades last year), we're probably looking at another dreary season.
  9. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Well, the good news is that we have a lot of pitchers with ERAs over 6.00. The key to 2018 will be getting more innings from them! Oy. Hope Mickey Callaway stocked up on Zantac.
  10. Jeez, he really choked big-time in the Series. Once, maybe not so bad, but twice- ouch.
  11. Centerfield wrote: Is it Scott Boras that makes the grocery store aisle comments about the Mets? I guess we'll find out early if we are shopping in the steaks section or the clearance aisle.
  12. Ceetar wrote: If fart's are the criteria, I guess we need Adam Lind? [tweet]https://twitter.com/aarongleeman/status/832301527201103872[/tweet] Omigod, I just giggled for ten minutes.
  13. Good on the Astros. They're still one behind the Mets on WS championships, though. Didn't stay up to catch the end because, hey, gotta get up early.
  14. Speed is something the Mets are very short of. Gordon doesn't walk, but he doesn't have to lead off if Rosario is the player he's supposed to be. And he stole more bases than the Mets entire team last year. I can live with Gordon's contract especially if Jeter and the Marlins eat some of it. The Mets could then lock down second base and not have to worry about a bunch of guys who can 'kinda' play second base, like Flores and Rivera and Cabrera and Cecchini and so on.
  15. That's cool. And he was hilarious in Trainwreck.
  16. I do remember that he did get a bit pudgy in 2013. That's probably why they wanted him to work with Barwis as much as anything. If he'd stayed he'd probably have torn something next spring from being too muscular. Would have paid good money to see him hit Jeffy with a pie, though.
  17. Yeah, looks like they're leaning toward exercising the option on Cabrera. Have to think that's the end of Reyes. So that's Smith, Rosario, Cabrera, Flores and TJ, I guess. No Wright, I assume, as he's on the 1000-day disabled list.
  18. Justin Turner. Of course.
  19. Expect lots of Tommy Lasorda shots tonight. And Mary Hart's legs.
  20. Wish I knew more about him. Hoping for the best. Curious to see who his bench coach will be. Hopefully someone better than Dick Scott.

  22. Want Cora, we'll get Long.
  23. Why did the Astros pick this particular moment to suck?
  24. Manny being Manny. A Reyes Run. Kiner's Korner. (Which was a thing long before he broadcast the Mets). Reggie Bars.
