  1. And this is kind of a pattern, it's not just today. They don't go long enough with starters and too long with relievers, the first problem contributing to the second. How many times this year have we seen them pull someone who seemed to be dealing, an inning early, forcing an extra 3 outs on the bullpen? You can only get away with that for so long.
  2. An annoying game. I'm OK with 2 out of 3, but this was a winnable game with better strategic thinking. Rojas/Hefner are slavish to the 'don't let him go third time through the order' thinking. If a pitcher's having a good day, roll with him until he weakens. The converse was true with Familia. He got out of his first inning just by the hair on his chinny-chin chin. Throwing him out there for a second inning (and sticking with him when he put the first two on) produced predictable results. Barnes is nothing special, except for his tendency to give up soul-crushing home runs. I don't even know why he's in this bullpen. They've got 14 pitchers; they had other options.
  3. =bmfc1 post_id=67799 time=1623615180 user_id=73] Time for Dom to hit the pine. He's now 0 for his last 20 and his glove isn't the reason he's in the lineup.
  4. Barnes has perfected the confused look after giving up a long bomb.
  5. Barnes gives up the homer to his first batter again. Malpractice.
  6. If they're short in the bullpen, why pull Lucchesi early when he's cruising?
  7. And the dynamite goes off.
  8. Why Familia for a second inning? This is playing with dynamite.
  9. Peraza is a nice little player. Would have let Lucchesi go another inning- 12 outs is a lot to get.
  10. My expectations are low for Joey. But if they can snag this one somehow, that'd be awesome. You kind of get the feeling the Padres are due for a game where they just stomp the living crap out of someone.
  11. Well, happy to be wrong, Loupy.
  12. Ooh, Tatis crushed that one. Not confident in Loup here. Or ever, really.
  13. Well, there ya go.
  14. Stroman on point today. But no margin for error unless they can score some more.
  15. Fingers crossed on the flexor tendon, but Jacob deGrom has more RBI this season (5) than earned runs allowed (4). That is a totally insane statistic. And nobody has ever gotten to 100 strikeouts in fewer innings. Since 1893.
  16. Todd will get a chance to annoy the beat reporters in Tokyo. Todd Frazier went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, Eric Filia hit the go-ahead, two-run homer and Team USA clinched a spot in the Summer Olympics with a 4-2 victory over Venezuela in the final game of the Americas Qualifier. Team USA is going to the Olympics for the first time since 2008, the last time baseball was a part of the Summer Games.
  17. 4 up on the Phils, 5 up on the Braves. Nice.
  18. In the postgame, deGrom didn't seem too concerned.
  19. I may strain my own flexors crossing my fingers so hard.
  20. I'd be more qualified to play CF than I would be for any of these positions.
  21. Lol. The deepest, darkest, most pitch black of dark horse Mets. And good for him, becoming a minor folk hero. We'll always remember that beard.
  22. They won't be able to make them fast enough to keep up with demand.
  23. If you include organization guys, Patrick Mazeika wins in a walkoff.
  24. I'd stash Almora in the 'Cuse right now. He'll get his chances.
