  1. That's the first thing I've read that actually has me excited for this season. It's about time.
  2. I really should go through and rescan most of these... Walter Iooss is photographer whom all other sports photographers should be measured against, imho. My favorite shot of his is one he did of Jordan - between the color, the angle of light, and the perfectly formed shadow, this is just about perfect:
  3. On one hand, it's good for me, because I have a shorter drive to see the Cyclones, but it's sad that yet another small town is losing a NY/Penn league team... http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100128&content_id=7989132&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp
  4. That should be the name of Monk's next band.
  5. Enough with the fucking black already!
  6. I'm not pissed, but resigned to the fact that what ails the team I love can't be fired.
  7. Nymr83 wrote: i think moving in (and shortening) the fences would radically help the terribly obstructed views Thats an argument I can accept, but I don't trust the idiots who gave us obstructed views in the first place to make that determination. If someone independent could conduct a study and tell us that x% of obstructed seats would be better off if you moved the fences in to y dimensions I'd love to see that. Actually, I think moving home plate up would help more with the obstructed views since the foul lines wouldn't be as deep into the corners... Personally, I think they should just make the walls one uniform height, get rid of that stupid alcove in right center, and leave everything else alone...
  8. I think Gilbert being there has more to do with the Wilpons sucking up to the NHL to get next year's New Years Day classic...
  9. That's why I put announcement in quotes. I do think this was leaked to Francesa for that reason.
  10. I'm going to say this up front - I like the move. I think Bay plugs a hole - he's not the final piece, but he's a much needed piece. Having said that, I have to believe that the timing of said "announcement" on the #1 afternoon sports show in NY, was not a coincidence with the the deadline for season ticket renewals coming up.
  11. My Ballot: Alomar - I really have to hold my nose for this one. Blyleven Larkin Raines Trammell Martinez and Baines do not get in, ever. Their careers were extended due to the bastardization of baseball known as the DH....
  12. ok - I just can't continue to vote for four because I have to = it just waters down the results. Davey and Mike are the only deserving ones here.
  13. Ron Hunt, Jane Jarvis, Darryl Strawberry, Rube Walker
  14. Well, since I HAVE to vote for four: Karl Ehrhardt, Nelson Doubleday, John Franco, Dwight Gooden
  15. and there was much rejoicing!
  16. Rube Walker. Howie gets a not yet.
  17. Cashen and Orosco. Gary is a not yet
  18. Piazza and Franco
