  1. Ke'Bryan Hayes. 1. Agrees to biggest contract in Pirates history 2. Goes out to play third and gets hurt diving for a ball. 3. Realizes that — gulp! — the deal was pending his passing a physical. The rest is up to the lawyers, but what a turn of the fates for Hayes and the Alleghenys! 2. SeaWolfMets 1. Daniel Zamora 2. Nick Tropeano 3. Travis Jankowski
  3. Raining in my head like a tragedy Tearing me apart like a new emotion
  4. First team ever? to go four straight years without the starter being touched?
  5. And Tylor loses 25% of his lead to his bullpen.
  6. I'd give Tylor at least one more inning. Come on! Also, let's send our #6 starter out on opening day every year!
  7. McNoot hitting with risp is what the doctor ordered.
  8. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=88684 time=1649383452 user_id=119] Feels like we should have gotten a lot more out of that.
  9. And a run-scoring groundout before a GiDP. Jury is still out, but a 2-0 lead is a 2-0 lead.
  10. McCann pulls a Rudi Stein!! [fimg=450]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/kPwAAOSwYIJeLgZa/s-l1600.jpg[/fimg]
  11. Bloaded and no outs. Here's where you distinguish yourself from the last version of the team, Buckmets.
  12. =Fman99 post_id=88671 time=1649382423 user_id=86] Love it. Don't ever ban the shift. It's 100% beatable for those who try.
  13. WE HAVE A BUNT AGAINST THE SHIFT! WE HAVE A BUNT AGAINST THE SHIFT!!
  14. My comforting thought when I see Alonso running the bases is "Well, I guess he's faster and less violent than Duda was."
  15. Yeah, sportswriters have always put them in the same sentence, but they were never particularly close. Straw was tight mostly with Darling. Dwight was mostly aloof. Darryl has been deep into salvation-through-the-faith, and while it's seemingly worked for him, I imagine any attempts to reach out to Gooden in recent years have come with a proselytization that hasn't been particularly welcomed by Gooden.
  16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Where did everyone go? We missed a controversial call at first base and Buck is -1 at challenges. Megill escapes Coming up empty after getting the first two on, and blowing the pickoff, hopefully will be the sort of thing that burns Buck's old butt, but great sackup job by Megillicuddy.
  17. Two winners there.
  18. I guess I should have made that an option. Also possible is that neither makes it. Check out that "Talk to the HAND" release on the photo of Beaty above. It kind of looks like he's flailing wildly, but that's his consistent form. [FIMG=550]https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2021/10/25223650/GettyImages-1236011231-scaled-e1635215832848-1024x682.jpg[/FIMG] [FIMG=550]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2022/04/baty-swing.jpg[/FIMG] [FIMG=550]https://img.mlbstatic.com/milb-images/image/private/t_2x1/t_w1536/milb/ug9tbejsge9lq4mx0zdi.jpg[/FIMG] I'm impressed by that, but he still just strikes me as so boyish, and a carefully manicured swing, in the name of Gregg Jefferies, isn't always the formula for an effective game. I went for Vientos.
  19. That wasn't Opening Day. Apart from the rain, the temperature is more or less OK.
  20. He really was signed hurt — on the hope that a specimen like him, if he can get back to form, would be a steal. The Mets did a similar thing yesterday in signing John Curtis, even though he's out for the season as he recovers from surgery. Dellin was further along in his recovery, but he was still something a longshot at the time.
  21. Still coming down hard here in Baltimore.
  22. Two of the Mets' top prospects are thirdbasemen, and both are at AAA this year. One is older than the other. One has had a stronger minor league career while the other has had a faster one. Both are trying other positions, but one has experience in the middle of the diamond and the other only on the corner. One is pretty consistently getting higher ratings, but the other has seen his power blossom. One bats from the left side and the other from the right. One has first-round pedigree, and the other is a second-rounder. Whoever gets to the bigs first gets a leg up in the effort to become a third base fixture. Who will it be? 23. [FIMG=350]https://static.spin.com/files/2020/07/STEVE.PUP_-1595436371.jpg[/FIMG] What are your reasonable hopes? My totally reasonable hopes are that the Blue Jays win the fuckin' World Series. It feels possible! And I'm not just saying that when I know it's not true like a Mets fan would! — Steve Sladkowski, PUP OK, so it's gonna be like that, Steve?
