  1. Dig the rest at the SNY post on Febbook.
  2. Cowboy Jorge Polanco, seemingly without the first idea how to draw a baseball cap, has rendered some living creature on top of his head. [FIMG=500]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HCbf-DVWEAAoX-H?format=jpg&name=large[/FIMG]
  3. Luis Robert, Jr., sneaking down from upstairs to see what Santa brought: [FIMG=500]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HCbf-DWX0AAGKMh?format=jpg&name=large[/FIMG]
  4. Freddy Peralta, depicting himself doing his favorite activity — drunk golfing. [FIMG=500]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HCbf-DYW8AAXyG2?format=jpg&name=large[/FIMG]
  5. Mets invited by SNY to draw their own self portraits. Bo Bichette, clearly wanting to keep his shoe sponsor happy: [fimg=500]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HCbf-DwbkAAAScG?format=jpg&name=large[/fimg]
  6. You could have watched from Nicaragua, I bet.
  7. The concentration of BB-d initialed players in Mets history is stunning. It has left researchers speechless.
  8. Nicaragua goes down in the ninth! Save for Jefry Yan!!
  9. Craig Kimbrel still not getting it together, giving up three hits and a run in his lone inning of work.
  10. Some heavy controversy (which is always good) as Tarik Skubal has kind of bailed on the Americans. His participatio,n along with that of Paul Skenes, seemed to set up a devastating one-two cockpunch of a combo, but it has been announced that he will only be participating in only one game — against the un-imposing Great Britain team — before returning to Tiger Camp, to learn how to be a better Tiger. To which all good Americans cried, "Tarik, we could have pitched Michael Wacha against Great Britain! Give us something we can use!!"
  11. It is. Tong got taken deep for a solo homer by Nicaragua infielder Freddy Zamora.
  12. For those opposed to this tournament, it is a minor blessing that Jonah Tong isn't pitching for Canada today in their exhibition against the Blue Jays. It's a blessing for The Jays, too, as Canada is losing 2-0.
  13. Contrary to posts above, minor-league catcher Onix Vega does not appear to be a free agent, as he has been spotted in camp. Workers are trying to isolate the source of the error, but for the time-being, Mets Roster Center will treat him as an active member of the system, Binghamton bound.
  14. Notable that Byrd is the only American-born player on the list.
  15. Does a team still have to pay a player that is suspended for cheating? No, but they get the rest of his 2025-2028 contract, in which he has failed to play up to the year that won him the deal. It is wrong that teams are relieved of the payroll obligation when PED abusers are suspended. If they they were required to still lay out the money (if only to charity), they would take a much greater interest in keeping their players clean.
  16. This is supposedly going down today, as soon as they get the field dry, with Vientos playing for Nicaragua.
  17. The Braves sure paid a lot of money to be left holding that bag.
  18. I don't really have a problem with honoring **** that happened before my time. As sensibilities progress, legacies like Columbus' and Washington's may change in the public perception, and it is right that we should continue to reassess, but I think a stable culture continues to make space for foundational and transformational figures. Lore is part of what makes the game the game, and the elevation of these figures triggers lore. That Cap Anson guy was a mountainous figure at one point, but now we know him to have been a massive tool that did immeasurable damage to the game and to culture at large. Let's keep his plaque in the Hall of Fame and keep telling that story.
  19. Thus far, the only Mets known to have broken the 99 ceiling are Jay Satan (666) and Super Seaver (4141).
  20. I think he was elected to the Hall of Fame on the entirety of his career. His on-field Yankee legacy was pretty comparable to Al Leiter's or Jose Reyes' careers with the Mets. And it was far less than Andy Pettitte's on-field Yankee legacy (depending on how you file the drug issue). The greater issue, of course, is that the set of available numbers between 0 and 99 is finite, so we would do well to find an alternative way to honor people.
  21. And thank you. It is very kind of you to frame my weird project as a virtue.
  22. We'll be working on coming up with a name that satisfies our needs along with the SEO needs and availability and not-stupidity needs.
  23. Yankee announce they will be honoring C.C. Sabathia by retiring his number (checks notes) 52. It is a week-old announcement, but we let it slide in the excitement over the Danis Correa acquisition.
  24. I wouldn't have guessed the similarity meter would link Marte and Jefferies given a hundred guesses. An outfielder and an infielder. A righty hitter and a switchie. A speedy guy with modest power vs. a contact guy with a lower lid on his power. But at the end of the day, their slash numbers line up pretty nicely.
