  1. Bo Bichette is so unfamiliar with hitting the ball suddenly that he puts one into the gap and falls down.
  2. As the beginning of the season has unfolded, the Mets assembled their minor-league rosters, and realized perhaps that more guys made it through camp healthy than they need, and some late goodbyes had to go down. Transactions, 3/26/2026 GOING Released Released Released Released Relief Pitchers Relief Pitcher Relief Pitcher Relief Pitcher Colton Cosper Anthony Crespo Pablo Medina Jermayne Verdu L/L DoB: 37507 High Level: AAA (2025) R/R DoB: 38111 High Level: Rk (2025) L/L DoB: 39002 High Level: DSL (2025) R/R DoB: 0000-00-00 High Level: DSL (2025) Colton Cosper is clearly the highest profile of this batch of releaserinos, having briefly (but effectively) appeared in Syracuse in 2025. That's pretty impressive (if somewhat accidental) for a 22-year-old in his first year out of college. He was probably heading back to a much lower level of Brooklyn or St. Lucie, but now he doesn't even get that. The other three combine to demonstrate the Mets' non-discrimination policy among low-level Caribbean relievers, as they jettison one Dominican, one Venezuelan, and one Panamanian. There were varying degrees of effectiveness among them, but the common thread appears to be wildness. Throw strikes, young man. Transactions, 3/27/2026 GOING Released Released Relief Pitcher Relief Pitcher Jesüs Anton Colby Frieda R/R DoB: 38765 High Level: Rk (2025) R/R DoB: 37462 High Level: Div. I+ (2025) Jesus Anton was terrific, if you like a double-digit ERA. Three seasons (three!) should be enough to find some regression to the mean, but a total of only 21 2/3 innings and 12.60 (again, !!) mark suggests the Mets fell in love with something that never made it onto the field. On the other hand, when it came to Colby Frieda, absolutely no part of him made it onto the field. Signed last August, he collected a few minor-league paychecks, but checks out with a blank statistical line. Transactions, 3/28/2026 GOING Released Infielders Cole Fowler L/R DoB: 37600 High Level: Rk (2025) Also leaving the Mets organization without putting any statisctician to work is Cole Fowler. Being a veteran of The Frontier League and Division II may not be the most impressive calling card, but he has absolutely pummeled the ball wherever he has been. His shot at affiliate ball was short lived, however, with him signed March 12 and released little more than two weeks later. Crikey! The good news is that is all the news there is. Despite two extra-inning games the last two days, the Mets made no big-league transactions going into the Cardinal series. Mets Roster Central supports this, and rejects all calls to DFA Richard Lovelady. Let's give these guys a chance to show what they can do.

  5. Young needs more than 117 career plate appearances in the majors to show what he can do. His minor league career has been impressive enough that an odd start while he is up is worth looking at.
  6. Vientos will get his belts in. Plenty of lefties ahead.
  7. Damn, purple is just waiting to be fired up. Best wishes to your kid.
  8. Thanks for honoring the important new standard of getting the IGT up early. Looking forward to seeing what color the box turns when a reliever reaches 40 pitches.
  9. The thing is that players are expected to do this all the time. I'm committed to doing my best. Today you didn't see that. That's on me. You say that, turn the page, and you hopefully move forward.
  10. Put alongside the reported pre-game commitment to not use their best relievers, it works as a remarkable cop out. Our hands were tied before the game so we can't be held responsible for poorly strategizing based on the situation at hand. I wish somebody had would tell them that paying people sit in the cold asking for nothing more than a good-faith performance. That really is a Jerry Manuel defense.
  11. I got the idea that Lindor was sore after going in headfirst on his triple, with his hands coming down hard on the bag, hamates first.
  12. HIs whole system was rumbling as Soto's hit dropped in and he carefully scuttled to back up at home, but then he squeezed tight and held it all in after Lindor was tagged. I'm surprised I'm the only one who saw this.
  13. METS WIN EXPECTANCY WITH SOTO COMING TO THE PLATE: 32% METS WIN EXPECTANCY AFTER ALVAREZ SCORED: 52% METS WIN EXPECTANCY AFTER LINDOR WAS TAGGED OUT: 28.5% METS WIN EXPECTANCY HAED LINDOR BEEN SAFE: 82.2% The data comes (a) without regard for who was due up, and (b) from a source I cannot vouch for.
  14. And a pitcher pitching with a dirty diaper.
  15. It turned out to be a pretty evenly matched series. I'd probably give the edge to the Pirates if the Mets hadn't come (mostly) within a bad send of sweeping. I hope you're wrong and Lovelady doesn't get a DFA over this. He was the winning pitcher yesterday and almost was again today. None of it was pretty, but somebody is always going to be eventually the guy who doesn't get it done in a game like this. Devin Williams, meanwhile, never had to take off his warmup jacket.
  16. "Hi, Room Service? This is Room #316. I need a bad send." "We'll have a third-base coach right up."
  17. Yankee relievers don't fully become Met relievers until we get them a win.
  18. Even if he doesn't recover and re-establish himself in the Mets rotation, I bet he has a long Ollie Perez of a second act as a funky lefty reliever.
  19. Sometimes, your bat comes around only because your hands are protecting your face, and you get called out. That strikeout was a shame because Soto got some great swings in during that trip.
  20. I'm guessing that's it for Manaea. He got his lefty matchups.
  21. Can't really explain the mid-inning switch here, but people have their ways.
  22. (shouts into the wind)Huascar should stick around with that kind of economy.(/shouts into the wind)
