Dissatisfied with having the fifth-best bullpen ERA in Major League Baseball, the Mets have signed veteran righthander Luke Jackson to a minor league dealio.
Luke, probably unrelated to the Luke Jackson known for his cool hands (though I have not checked how many hard-boiled eggs he can eat, or assessed his communications skills) pitched for three different teams in 2025, as part of a 10-year career of MLB relievin'. Since missing 2022 following UCL surgery, his career has been through enough transactions that, when he passes, the news will not report that he has died, only that he has been designated for assignment.
Still, he is most famous for winning a World Series with the 2021 Braves, and celebrating by cuddling his month-old son on the field.
