  1. You know, we had an awkward error in centerfield tonight. They happen.
  2. Call people on that shit. Call them on it every time.
  3. Just getting in now from Lou's City Pub, where there's a TV screen every eight an half inches. Hey, Napoli. Slide, man.
  4. One more article stating as fact that there was something disgraceful about Willie Mays' tenure with the Mets.
  5. Check this out: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=2237853669261&set=o.104119396287098&type=3&permPage=1 They tore that place down?
  6. If anything, I'd want them changed to green, so the interior faade can be a reflection of Polo Grounds in the same way the exterior faade reflects Ebbets Field. It would also reference the original Shea walls.
  7. Thing is, though, in light of the ultimately ephemeral outfield defensive excellence we got from Pagan in 2010, is a defensive upgrade so easy to find, secure, and install? And doable with the dollars the Mets have to play with. Nice question, copycat.
  8. Thanks, irish. Adam Rubin (1:01 PM) Anyway, we've been going about an hour, minus brief technical interruption. Thanks for joining me. Yeah, brief.
  9. Yes, but will Ceetar's antipathy toward the pitcher and the coach who believes in him be cancelled by his antipathy for the source?
  10. Pete Flynnstone of Bedrock has complained about that answer.
  11. "The Mets indicated they would not be discussing the matter." Kinda was hoping you had other sources beyond the official ones, Scoop.
  12. [crossout:3hp1omy1]I don't see it either.[/crossout:3hp1omy1]
  13. Subjects of online baseball chatter the last few days: Mike Napoli 54% Nelson Cruz 24% Albert Pujols 12% Tony LaRussa 6% Derek Holland 2% Darryl Strawberry 1% Other 1%
  14. Rubin reportz that the Mets intend to wait out the market and get a leftover closer later in the offseason. I guess I'm OK with that. I think we have plenty of evidence of what being over-aggressive in pursuit of closers can bring. I'm just not as down on the in-hand options as all that.
  15. Now THAT'S a great handle. I'd answer any question that guy put in my queue. Key to the universe? Location of his missing cufflink? I'd tackle it.
  16. How is this thread still alive. Excellent.
  17. Heep o' Trouble from DC is trying to live up to his name.
  18. Noon today. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/newyork/chat/_/id/40930/mets-with-adam-rubin
  19. Sources have Johnson expected to return to Washington next season. We may be in the most competitive of divisions the next few years.
  20. I pulled out of this thread because I was so tiresome I was looking at my watch trying to come up with a way to excuse myself from myself. I told this to my wife, and she said that I'm over 40, so I'm allowed to be tiresome. Thanks, Honey, I think.
  21. I'm suddenly thinking... Alderson.
  22. Ceetar wrote: maybe I'm not just responding to you. maybe I'm just writing. No, I actually think you're responding to me. You address me directly sometimes, and chime in with phrases that suggests you're retorting. Ceetar wrote: I don't have a problem with what Reyes did and take offense to the idea that you think there's something wrong with that. So, you're addressing me now? How on earth is my position offensive to you? I read what you write. I honor you with thoughtful responses. Ceetar wrote: He's won the title because he got more H/AB than Braun did, and picking and choosing 2-3 (or even 20) AB to make a case that he somehow doesn't deserve it (as the writer in your link says of Boggs) is just silly. I didn't say he didn't deserve it. Nobody did. Or are you not addressing me here? Frayed Knot wrote: I'm with most of the rest of you about not liking the way he/they handled that final day, but these 'charges' against Reyes are neither new nor unique. You're offending Ceetar.
  23. Do you just not read what I actually write or what?
  24. Well, then, don't read. I'm not sure what I can tell you. If somebody roots for the Yankees to be overcome, I think it's best if they double-down on Sabathia. Irish seems to hope they lose him. You're the optimist. What do you think?
