    Lindor visits Hitsville against the position playa. Everything is coming up Brian Roses, offensively, but Baty is going to Atlanta on an 0-for-5 thought. Let's see if Weisass has one more of those innings in him.

    Well, it's not just a factor of such. Alvarez came into the game slugging .520 with the bases empty and .298 with men on base. With runners in scoring position, that drops to .264, nearly half his number with the bases empty.

    Six and a third on 82 pitches. Maybe he makes the eighth. Three strikes later, it's 6 2/3 on 85 pitches.

    Ewing, Lindor, and Baty are the only guys not in the hit column. The first two, though, have each scored two runs.

    I can't speak for all of us, but it is addressable. Bichette, meanwhile, is having a day.

    After two hits, it might be a good idea to get Benge out of there, and have his wrist heal up a little for Atlanta.

    The booth is missing a big part of the story in discussing Dave Kingman. His career ended after hitting 35 homers not so much because teams changed their priorities (although he wasn't good), but because teams were (somewhat openly) engaging in collusion.

    Unlikely, but it's a shame that his season has to end at the end of September, because he's just getting started. But he sure looks likely to be a part of the opening day rotation in 2027, which is certainly a step forward from where he started 2026. He hit 95 today — more than once, I think, and I don't think he's done that in two years. And Alvarez shoots a solo shot out.

    Referenced just now in the booth — Hal McRae takes out Willie Randolph at second, knocking him damn near into left field (but not rolling over on his leg). Both players ended up being managers, of very different temeraments.

    I certainly understand Morabito and Tong not being on the team at the moment, but I imagine Stock won't be starting again in four days.

    Being from Flatbush, it would have been nice if Candeleria had at least remembered that he had played for the Mets, brief as it was. But he went from there to spending the better part of two seasons with the Yankees, and probably defines his time in his hometown by that tenure alone.

    Man, I've sat through this turkey and haven't even met John Candeleria. I'd settle for Jermaine Allensworth at this point.

    Well, I think his slot is open. It's going to be tough to get those eight runs back with just two innings left.

    You're missing out. Arias has All-Star hair and MVP teeth. Yeah, sure, he's got some AA eyebrows, but you can't get everything off the waiver wire.
