  1. As of this morning, assuming Tejada is unavailable. [*:3jytac6o]Turner[/*:m:3jytac6o] [*:3jytac6o]Rottino?[/*:m:3jytac6o] [*:3jytac6o]Wright?[/*:m:3jytac6o] [*:3jytac6o]Hairston?[/*:m:3jytac6o] [*:3jytac6o]Murphy?[/*:m:3jytac6o] [*:3jytac6o]Teufel?[/*:m:3jytac6o][/list:o:3jytac6o]

Assuming also that everything holds in the rest of the rotation.
  3. Really? Seemed a pretty complex blackmail scenario to cross my mind. But yeah, I suppose a variant of "off the juice" has crossed many a mind.
  4. Be interesting if St. Louis was so furious at him for spurning them, they said something to the effect of, "Now that you got the payday of a lifetime, if I were you, I'd get off the juice, because we know who your pharmacist is, we know who your mule is, and we know what technique you've used to beat the the test, and if we suspect for a second you're still squirting, we'll leak that info in a Disney second."
  5. How unfortunate (or poorly planned). For the second time in as many weeks, they've demoted a guy just as they would suddenly have a need for him. 6. Yeah trading an out for a run (or a stronger guarantee of a run) will always have its value, but more generally, there have been diminishing returns on the outs they've given up.
  7. I'm not holding the numbers in front of me, but my observation tells me: [list:rxleqiqu][*:rxleqiqu]We're stealing at under 50%.[/*:m:rxleqiqu] [*:rxleqiqu]We're getting picked off at something like a record rate.[/*:m:rxleqiqu] [*:rxleqiqu]Our baserunners are successfully taking the extra base at a terribly disappointing rate[/*:m:rxleqiqu][/list:u:rxleqiqu] Maybe it's just a self-awareness thing and the coaches and players need to realize that they're not that sort of team. Today had Turner getting caught advancing and Torres picked off. Those lost baserunners (and found outs) could cost us some big games. Already have, I think.

Benjamin Grimm wrote: Batista starting on Tuesday in Philadelphia. I guess he deserves a second go, but I confess my surprise. Thought for sure when they shrunk to an 11-man staff, it meant another starter would be called up in a few days.
  9. Veteran British actors play a bunch of pensioners who retire to India. Spicy and colorful hi-jinks ensue.
  10. One of you Morlocks want to start a thread about this movie?
  11. Don't forget the peacock. He was a Game of the Week guy with NBC before he even joined the Mets back in 1980.
  12. No extra-base hits. The Mets: we'll score four, and whether that's a winning total is up to the pitching staff.

  15. Yeah, you're onto the problem. It's the we've-done-enough-ism. You get to the seventh inning with a lead, then it's the bullpen's job. Bull. You've got to keep hammering. Pick the bullpen up. I'll remember Jerry lamenting that "That's on the eighth-inning guy" 'til the day I die.
  16. I got faith that the homers will come like a great wave. I got more faith than George Michael's fanny.
  17. Two gorgeous posts there. As usual, my complaint is going to the pen when the starter is getting the job done.
  18. Yeah, we all have to make a concerted effort. The place is not only dying, but the whole genre of the internet interest forum seems to be. And it should not. Currently scheduled to be Met # 950: Matt Harvey. Currently scheduled to be Met # 975: Scott Moviel. Currently scheduled to be Met # 1000: Francisco Pea
  19. I did some digging. Looks like they would indeed have been the first. Neither of the Waners did it. Neither of the Aarons. None of the Delahantys. Neither of the Boones. Neither of the Gwynns. I got one of the Muesels. (Bob did it thrice.) One of the Dimagges (Joe, twice). Ken Boyer, but not Clete (or Cloyd). Joe Torre, but not Frank. Vlad -- but not Wilton --- Guerrero. Steven --- but not J.D. --- Drew.

  21. Come on. Don't let Putz get out of this game unscarred.
  22. Reports from the game is that lots of Beasties records have been played between innings. Shea Stadium, the radium, EMD squared Kicked out of the Palladium, ya think that I cared?
  23. And Thole lines out to end it. During that at-bat for Davis, I felt a slump turn into a crisis.
  24. Interesting to see Valdespin be the pinch-runner and not Nieuwenuis.
