  1. I imagine you're right, anymore than Gary Carter could make Dykstra not a cock. But seeing it play out will be an interesting side drama. I could see him getting hauled into Terry's office getting gentle talking-to's over outrageous infractions that the Mets are forced to downplay and pretend are smoothed over when they're not.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Very jocky and douchey too. He's the kind of guy all the other teams are going to start hating and fearing very soon. Wright is the captain now. Perhaps he'll lend young Matthew some pants sweetener.
  3. It's a reference to the much-loved Saturday Night Live "More Cowbell" sketch. http://vimeo.com/39387904
  4. It's the aggressiveness I like. The absence of waste pitches almost seems like a different brand of baseball. Yeah, Wheeler chills. And Snyderbuzz. Dark horse is Rafael Montero. Who knows what's gonna come from that guy? It's almost like Alderson wrote the rules to hide him on the shelf until the Mets could sign him. But in the meantime, it's probably best to be thankful for the Harveymeat and not look ahead to dessert too much.
  5. The key to assembling an effective bullpen is to go to it as sparingly as possible. Getting the last two innings out of one guy instead of four last night is a big step in that direction. Other thing going wrong is that this team striking out too much.
  6. Yeah, that's a funny confluence.

I'm impressed. That one was hard work. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: 2B/SS Freddy Galvis# (.224/.251/.359)-- Actually hit a home run off a Cy Young winner. For serious. 'Roids.
  8. I ain't got no kid, but if I did, I sure know he wouldn't be afraid of no Mr. Met. My kid would kick Mr. Met's ass!

  11. Heck, I'm saying Dickey. One name per post, Marcia!
  12. Daniel Murphy with a good chance to join that list this year, and then quickly drop off it after the Mets tear through the post-season.
  13. GUH! Dave F'n' Magadan!
  14. Gregg Jefferies.
  15. Steve Henderson.

  18. Hundley Todd.
  19. Rey Ordonez.
  20. Got a start at DH too. Stupid me.
  21. Lee Mazzilli
  22. This was remade a few years back with Alexander Skarsgrd as an American Charlie. I haven't seen either but I'd be so much more intimidated if the mob placing my home under siege was led by a guy with one of those Scandanavian vowel accents in his name. (Shudder.)
  23. "You certainly try to forget about it as soon as you can. Throughout the course of the season, you're going to have a clunker or two that you have to try to forget as soon as you can." Or sometimes it comes during the course of your first two starts, scaring the pants off of the GM and the fans who trusted him. "Probably a little bit too much rotation, they hit a couple of good pitches. Sometimes you have to look at the overall scope of the game and determine did you just get baseballed, or did you just not execute? And I think today was a bit of both for me.
