  1. To make things a little easy, it turns out the two packages are salary neutral the first year. I try and do this. metsmarathon wrote: we're voting for the player of the game. the frame of reference is that specific game. I agree with that. I wonder sometimes if we fall out of that frame of reference, particularly with starting pitchers. A six-inning, two-run, four-strikeout, two-walk performance is not the same thing, I think, in an 9-2 win that it is in a 3-2 win, or a 2-1 loss.
  3. Oh, well, it was tough there for a while. I gave Johan six. I shouldn't have. http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/17900/f9_t17985.shtml
  4. Hey, Lenny Randle, spirited retired baseball player who accepts my friendship, posts in all-caps and gives me access to other big-shot former ballplayers who share our friendship, what's with posting a still shot of the injury I've been doing my best to avoid. And under the guise of "praying" for all athletes. Lenny, honor those athletes' dignitary by saying no to injury porn.

Bet most of you wouldnt have guessed that coming in. Every time somebody seemingly pedestrian approaches or passes DiMaggio, it's supposed to be a jaw dropper, or some symbol of all that is wrong with America. The guy retired early, rather than face the specter of continuing to play as his role declined. That's the price. Heiniie Manush has more hits than you.
  6. Bowman gave up two runs in five and a third, dakota fanning five Romans while walking two. Rome leads the Sand Gnats, 2-0. Robles gave up a homer to a Jupiterian player in the first, but his St. Lucians struck back for three in the bottom half. He's got two whiffs, no walks, and two hits yielded through two. Guests Binghamton up 2-0 in their half of the sixth. Montero is, dare I say (I do!), dominant through five, having given up just one hit, no walk, and struck out eight.
  7. Four minor league openers tonight with four exciting young pitchers of varying degrees. How many are we gonna nail down?

  9. Jordany was born for this.
  10. I'm at work. And I don't give a shit. Buck naked am I.
  11. Now he's calling the low strike.
  12. OK, try to play matchup through the middle of the order one more time. YOU CAN'T DO IT!
  13. Expecting Ike to do a flip there.
  14. Any temptation to bag Call-Me-Maybe and pinch hit Moiphy here?
  15. And steals. Very Rickeyty.
  16. Yeah, well, I meant... Jordany avoids disaster, beating out the potential double-play. Very Mookieriffic.
  17. Tehotter leads off with a walk. Very Backmanian.
  18. How about that 1.000 batting average for @redturn2? Too bad the middle of the lineup has left him hanging all day.
  19. Wally Backman --- good at finding a way to get on when the team was down by one in the late innings.
  20. Well, that's some seventh-inning strategizing in the sixth. It worked (they struck out the side), but hopefully they payed their cards too early.
  21. And Ike is the man to do it. OE: Hey, Stults is out!
