  1. Early in the year, maybe even during the spring training, a high school classmate posted the following, "Jeter is irreplaceable but thank God he's retiring." OK.
  2. Ceetar wrote: Indeed and if Citi's not really associated with it anymore I'm not sure this can be chocked up to 'corporate relationships' or any such. Citi is associated with it. "Chocked up"?
  3. I'm still open to him, but he seems like he's all arms up there. Not using his legs and torso, and can't really get good wood on anything that isn't in his wheelhouse. The hand-eye coordination is great, but that seems like the bulk of what he has. Square contact has often led to soft liners. He could put years into polishing his fielding, but what he's got to do is hit and hit and hit enough that his fielding doesn't particularly matter. If he can't OPS at .800 at least, he's not particularly of use, I think.
  4. They've got 52 years of equity in that logo and I've got about 1000. I'd rather see them re-sign Jason Bay and put him at shortstop for the next six years than see them fuck up the logo to advance a corporate relationship.
  5. Replacing an icon of the East Side that represents New York's claim as a capital of the world, fostering international cooperation, peace, development, and humanitarianism (putting aside for a minute how successful the UN is) with a building that is a symbol of the corporation for which the team's stadium has been named... smells just awful --- especially considering that the organization has been caught sneaking Citi Corp's corporate symbolism onto the team's kit in the past.
  6. It's certainly not so much the what but the why that gives the logo change the appearance of a meaningful betrayal.
  7. Subtle but important logo creep may be happening with the Mets. See it? Well, read more here.
  8. I'm curious about how many of those fish-hits were opposite field on sliders away --- effective pitches for deGrom, Familia, and Mejia all, but if you don't come up and in on occasion, they're gonna get those hits off the end of the bat just by protecting away. A little memo to d'Arnaud, there. Why Kirk isn't starting is a thread unto itself.
  9. Waddaya calling, umpie?
  10. Let's turn this 'un around.
  11. A lot of flares off the end of the bat this inning. Bluhb.
  12. Jenrry coming on. Like Gil said about Nolan, it's no big deal to bring him in with the bases loaded. He's loaded them himself often enough that he's used to it.
  13. Grandy was too deep there, playing the opposite field against Hecheverria. Probably wouldn't have mattered. He's gonna be in left next year, right?
  14. This is unsettling. Bour has a lot of Rusty Staub in him.
  15. A.J. Ramos, keep it moving. Too bad we gave up an out on the basepaths.
  16. Seven games for Papelbon. That's a big hit for lewdness.
  17. Bad choice by Laggy I think. But good job by Murph following up and taking second.
  18. Boo to cheap hits.
  19. Seeing Carlyle and Edgin up in the pen in their fatigues looks like guys getting loose for a fishing trip.
  20. [bigpurple:2egcyors]K K K K K K K K K K K K K[/bigpurple:2egcyors] The low change at the knees has worked a few times.
  21. Not seeing a lot of breaking stuff from deGrominate.
  22. Shtupid shift.
  23. Brandon Nimmo is like a jocktastic version of Ed Grimley.
  24. He totally looks over-keyed.
  25. Wow. Cosart.
