  1. That was about as far as Tejada can hit it. Nice to see Granderson split the defense. It seems rare. His hits are either over the outfielder or in front of it, but the defense is typically so bunched, he rarely gets in between.
  2. I support your media shutdown, Matt, but at least be creative. [list:16tm5cdl]"That's a harlequin question, Bro'." "That's a query I'd consider to be characteristic of a mountebank, Cousin." "I'm not going to field the inquests of this Merry-Andrew, here. I think we're done."[/list:u:16tm5cdl]
  3. Ceciliani is going to get winded.
  4. The Daily News catches up with Rafael Santana. I assume part of this is an illusion of depth and angle, but check out how far off the bag he is, with the runner (Marty Barrett?) still coming after him. 5. He goes today against Lago de Sal. I'd guess it's his last go, but there's a day off on the 22nd and another on the 29th, so there's no immediate need for a sixth starter. I'm going with Sunday, July 5th in LA.
  6. Name the date of the MLB debut for Stevie Matz. NAME IT!
  7. I haven't kept up with these, but we had one of them yesterday. New York 3, Toronto 2 Mets complete the home sweep of the previously white-hot Blue Jays, with a depleted bullpen holding on after Matt Harvey delivered seven shutout innings, fanning six and walking zero. Las Vegas 10, Salt Lake 6 The Backman Bunch scored in double digits again, racking up 15 hits, with seven or their nine starters collecting two or more. The action began with a first-inning homer by Matt Reynolds. The rout was seemingly on until Rainy Lara faulted in the fifth, giving up four runs and allowing SLC to go up 6-3, before Vegas roared back with seven unanswered runs the rest of the way. Cody Satterwhite and Chase Bradford each threw two scoreless innings to earn the win and the save, respectively. Kirk Nieuwenhuis, back with the team after clearing waivers, contributed a single, a double, and an RBI. Binghamton 6, Portland 1 A leadoff homer by Marco Hernandez was all the damage Gabriel Ynoa would allow in his seven innings of work, shutting down the Sea Dogs the rest of the way, striking out two and walking zero, because Mets pitchers don't walk anybody anymore, drawing power from the eternal wellspring that is Bartolo Colon. Ninth-place hitter Eudy Pina homered and L.J. Mazzilli racked up three hits and nailed a baserunner at third on a relay. St. Lucie 5, Clearwater 2 John Gant earned his first win of the season, going 5 2/3 and allowing both runs, while striking out seven. Robert Coles has stepped in nicely as the new closer, following the promotion of Akeel Morris, earning his second save. Leadoff dude and third baseman Jeff McNeil went 35, running his average to a lofty .333. Savannah 6, Asheville 2 The Blue Jays aren't the only ones who can sign Cinderella boys out of the indy leagues, as the Sand Gnats threw their recent signee, Frontier League veteran and Metly named starting pitcher Casey Delgado up against the Tourists (who share a name with the band Annie Lenox and Dave Stewart originally collaborated with). Delgado gave them a Syndergaardian 7.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out 10 and walking nuttin'. Luis Guillorme led the attack with two doubles. Pattersonville, NY's David Roseboom finished up, lowering his ERA to 1.29. Victory is sweet, cool drink.

  9. I've frankly forgotten. Something I saw on the social media. Maybe I just drew a hasty inference. I apologize if I've created un-necessary anxiety.
  10. Me too. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band or some'un.
  11. I didn't limit my comments to the context of one game. Thank you for your reply.
  12. Nieuwenhuis goes 24 with an RBI double in his first game back in Vegas. Saw two XBHs go over his head in the same inning, though.

I'd call that win a lot of lovely things, but "decisive" isn't one of them.
  14. Oh, Godgodgod don't wave the red flag!!
  15. It certainly matters 18 or 19 times a year.
  16. Hey, Yankees, I'm all for you making bad deals and getting worse. You keep doing that. But try to stop making our division rivals better at the same time.
  17. So, which seventies band is this logo aping? [fimg=500]https://metsinpeace.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/screen-shot-2015-03-19-at-10-48-58-am.png[/fimg] There's also this: Not quite as nouveau but big long curves in the serifs.
  18. Looks like the Foos are going to pull the plug on the Citi show.
  19. Here's a pretty good summary. I'm curious about Utley's semi-regular attempts to countermand his manager and coaches and wonder when it's going to come to a head. Nothing in particular against Sandberg (though I was never a fan), but I would love to see Utz end up becoming a player-manager.
  20. When Duda runs toward me, I freeze.
  21. Harvey 6.00 Lagares 1.29 Parnell 1.27 Ceciliani 0.72 Flores 0.43 Tejada 0.29
  22. Utley didn't want Francoeur unusable for today.
  23. 2327 since the end of the Winning Streak. Almost back to where they left off.
  24. "Hi, guys. It's Jimmy. Jimmy Rollins. How you doin'? Where am I calling from? First place! That's where!"
  25. Parnell. My word. Didn't think Flores would get to that grounder.
