We've benefitted from some shady defense: Encarnacin's ol play at first, Bautista's playing a flare into a double, and Reyes sailing his throw on Plawecki's grounder in the hole.

On the other hand, let's try and get nine outs out of Torres.

Great curve by Torres to get Kokopelli.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Terry try to use five pitchers to get the next nine outs.

Should've squeezed him home, Lucas.

Bautista giveth and Bautista taketh away. He played that ball like he was taking something hot out of the oven.

Let's get Syndergaard out of here with a lead, a lead, a lead.

Wow... a bunt!! It looked he was trying to go the other side, but... a successful bunt!!

There's a place for diving/sliding into first.

Time to get the run back if not more.

Disastrous whiffs looking we're getting these days.

Flores swinging.

So this Reyes guy seems like a player.

Cuddy shoulda been swinging 3-0. With two outs, take a poke.

We'll see indeed, but I understand the impulse to remember. He and his contract are certainly a better and more cost-effective asset than your typical DFA and he'll be unlikely to get through waivers, or to fail to gain some bites on the forced-trade market. I mean, they moved Nieuwenhuis.

I certainly didn't mean to suggest a contradiction, only a diverging report. [fimg=400:2nc75inq]http://cdn.meme.am/instances/500x/59135290.jpg[/fimg:2nc75inq]

So, it clarifies it not at all.

I like Bud Black, but his persistent employment puzzled me. He always seemed outmaneuvered by Terry and Terry's predecessors as well. And I say that as no fan of Jerry's in-game deployments.

So you know, nothing new. This clarifies what I wrote how?

I don't know that he's been jerked around. There's no easy choice for handling such a situation. We're looking at the beginnings of a wave of perfectly serviceable guys that are going to get kicked aside many unceremoniously as prospects force the issue. Gee was preceded by Recker, though he may or may not be back. Further bumpoffs may soon include Murphy, Tejada, Niese, Cuddyer, Granderson. Some might be preemptively traded; some might just play out their contracts and not get called back; and others, like Gee, might be held on to until their performance ebbs, but few of them can afford to let their heads dip below water for long.

Daddy always says that if it's tweeted by Adam Rubin, it's the truth, so I'm just going to go ahead and assume that this report is accurate. Takes me by serious surprise, but it's hard to say what I would have done differently. (DFA the heck out of Eric Campbell and call Cuddy my infield reserve? Maybe.) Bud Black fired by San Diego after 8 1/3 seasons. Dave Roberts taking over. There've been a lot of Dave Robertses in baseball history, I think, so I'm unsure if I know who he is. [fimg=500:1iqj2bts]http://www.itsfriartime.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/black.jpg[/fimg:1iqj2bts]
