I'm so rooting for Colorado to color their way back inside the lines.

Scherzer mostly did the Scherzer thing.

Man, a lot of words.

There will reportedly be more additions tomorrow, but extra genius points to whoever decided to bring Matt Reynolds back today. Smoothest turnaround game in Cincinnati since Al Leiter.

It's worth noting, because, if it was the other way around, folks would be tearing their hair out. True. Part of it is that it almost never happens the Kelly Johnson (and Cespedes) way, does it? The best we usually get is a push. My guess is this is more or less true as often as not. Especially in the second half of the Mets' existence.

Q: Where does the Bible address baseball? A: In the big inning.

Responsible for gazing at the ball and responsible for trying fro three anyhow.

But no! He gets out of it! [fimg=500:2qwqe8gk]http://ring.cdandlp.com/luckystar/photo_grande/114754906.jpg[/fimg:2qwqe8gk]

Our lead's in jeopardy!

An early lead is heartening, as red-eye games often lead to the team sleeping through the first six innings with two scratch hits and no runs.

My computer is in the shop (meaning, in the care of a friend of a friend who clearly smokes a LOT of weed), so there'll be no new standings posted today. Suffice to know that he Mets' likelihood of winning the division increased yesterday and last night from 0.2% to 0.3% according to Baseball Prospectus, and their likelihood of winning a wild card increased yesterday and last night from 42.9% to 49.9%, according to the same source. That's most of what you need to know right there.

I love that Fammy gets his first guy on the high, riding fastball, and the second guy on the slider. Hopefully, number three falls before the splitter. OE: uh, no.

Sure, the Cardinals have won, but the Giants are down by a run in the 13th. I'll take that. Miami lost also, and Pittsburgh was clobbered.

Shreveport, baby. Don't sell the cajun people short. ADDISON REED WITH THE STRIKEOUT!

You've got to sub out Cspedes in these situations. He just made the last out of the inning.

Pitching depth roolz.

It's not lying. It's withholding. Too much information helps the enemy.

If you can't be the hottest team in the league, it's nice to be the next-hottest, with the heat crown instead going to the team at the bottom of the standings. Bless you, Braves. And an extra helping of oatmeal for the Reds, too. I don't really have the MLB percentage right in the last column. I think the WC change is a two-day delta, instead of a one-day. And I bagged it on the division one-day delta, but it's likely about zero, or perhaps a tenth of a percentage one way or another. Five scoreless innings in his last major league start wasn't good enough to fill in if DeGrom (or Matz) can't go? Later DeGrom can go. Matz has already been replaced in the rotation. DeGrom doesn't need to be.

That's the spirit. One game out of the playoffs with 25 to go is hopeless.

Jay Bruce owes his old buddies a thank-you call for beating up on the Cardinals.

And he was throwing like crap up until that point. All over the place. What a letdown. A deflation. A big, greasy, wet fart of an at-bat.

List of opening day Mets who haven't missed significant time with injuries: Campbell Granderson List of opening day Mets who haven't missed significant time with injuries or demotions: Granderson It strikes me that they've got a three-man starting lineup — Cabrera, Céspedes, and Reyes — everybody else is part of a rotation that needs to double check the lineup card every day. As much as it has hamstrung the Mets all season, played correctly, this many ready-to-deploy players could be an advantage down the stretch. A lot of fresh legs, to go with Cabrera and Céspedes, both of whom look like the've ground their wheels to bits.
