That's why you use both, man. Nimmo against righties and Lagares against lefties and in late innings, perhaps with Nimmo sliding over to a corner to cover Céspedes. As long as folks stay healthy, it'll be brilliant. Brilliant!

Rockin' Doc wrote: He and Cespedes are the two most dongerous hitters the Mets have at this point. I don't know it was intentional, but you just coined a great new word, specially made for these dongerous times we're living in. Congratulations!

That's a shame, and leaves the team in a 2-1 hole in a best-of-five series. No announced starter for tomorrow. Hopefully, it's Mickey Jannis.

I like that poster a lot, but after the first two, I'm having a lot of trouble reading the names of those acts.

I guess they want to get him going by slotting him against the lefty. I want more Phil Evans. Eleven homers for Vegas, Terry!

While you're Oy Gevalting, Travis Taijeron is your new #5 hitter.

Juan Lagares, your new #3 hitter.

"There's a lot of questions like I'm dying," Wright said. "I'm not dying."

Baltimore would have been great. It would have been payback of sorts for the time Tampa/St. Pete hosted the O's as the home team during the Baltimore riots, and O's fans would have been in the strange position of rooting like heck for a team a game and a half behind them in the standings.

I agree. If the Mets accept my application to manage next season, I open the season with Nimmo and Lageres platooning between Céspedes and Conforto, and adjust from there. Obviously that becomes a more workable deployment if I get a good look at how he plays center now. He looks like a better athlete than Conforto to my eyes, if not necessarily a more skilled outfielder. That second part can change!

He has been in the lineup every day.

From the perspective of the Phil Evans Fan Association, this is great news. Phil was scheduled to become one of the Mets' dozens (upon dozens) of minor league free agents this offseason and probably the one they least wanted to lose. He survived last year's Rule V draft and we didn't want to lose him to the swirling winds of roster pinches. Jaerock Lee has been such a disappointment.

Today's starting pitcher, for what it's worth, also suffers from a debilitative spine condition (spondylolisthesis) and is also a veteran of spinal fusion surgery that left him bedridden for several months. Play on, Seth Lugo. Rabia, rabia contra la muerte de la luz.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: If he wasn't also Quarterrican Seth Jewgo would have hurt his elbow for Isreal this spring. He shares Juan Epstein's ethnic versatility.

I got two of the current batch. One being a gimme. Who knew that (un-named Twin) looked like such a scuzzbag when he was young.

I'm not a real Mets fan. At least, that's what internet users keep telling me for not rooting for David Wright to burn $75 million and go away. Rooting for the Mets means rooting for the insurance company, apparently. F that. David Wright struggles to do what what I cannot, and when he has done it well, he has done it nobly. Struggle on.

A less-than-encouraging appearance in Brooklyn for the big guy, going 2.0 innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits and two walks, striking out three, as the Cyclones end their disastrous season with an 8-4 loss, finishing at 24-52 (.316).

How did the Reds catcher miss that tag? Plawecki was out by a mile.
