Hilarious night for Devin Mesaraco, getting just under three balls in a row.

ABOUT TIME GONZALEZ PUT DOWN A BUNT! Keep doing that until the shift ends.

Collin Gowgill is playing International League ball with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

And yet, a big strikeout of Avila.

Three hits for Confie. Mets up 3-zip. Gonzalez doing nothing with Godley's bender tonight. And .... nothing.

Have you guys all been turned to dust by a big purple cosmic villain or something? Keith does a great report on Rusty Staub reading Mark Langston's pitches. This booth is far better with three dudes.

bmfc1 wrote: MdD and Kelly are options but they aren't on the 40-man. Such a choice! However, Sandy said that they might keep 13 pitchers rather than find another OF. This fits Sandy's MO of doing the least amount of work possible. That's pretty obviously untrue. If they want to promote a non-roster player, transferring a player to the 40-man roster is as easy as putting Lagares on the 60-Day DL.

10 K's in five innings for deGrom. 24 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

Bat righthanded if you don't want to re-injure your elbow, Jake.

Conforto going the other way twice is sweet to behold.

Down to three outfielders, all of them lefty, and Phil Evans as the make-believe #4. I'd feel a lot better about the coming weeks if the team had put a lot more energy in the last year and a third into making José Reyes a passable outfielder. I was one of the hottest young catchers in baseball. I was! Maybe even one of the hottest young properties! Remember 2014?! Sure you do! Yours truly had 25 homers and 80 RBI in just 114 games and the scribes couldn't get enough of me. I was Justin Bieber and Jack Kennedy and Troy Donahue rolled into one! Yeah, it was just like that! OK, it was nothing like that. Good things don't happen in Cincinnati. But they sure tried to make something good out of it all, locking me up with a big contract along with my fellow Italian Americans Joey Votto and Homer Botabingo. It was a big deal! Four years! Three of those years are gone. I've named them "Hip Surgery," "Torn Labrum," and "Broken Foot." This is year four, and I'm naming this one "Traded to the Mets for Matt Harvey," which has a nice ring to it considering the three prior years. And frankly, considering those three years, I shudder to think what has become of Matt, but he's welcome to my old digs in Cincinnati. But me, I'm gonna worry about me. I've still got some baseball in this broken body. You know, I've had 18 at bats so far and only three hits, but two of them have left the yard. You only get so many shots at the brass ring, so I'm gonna keep grabbing. But what will I grab? That story has yet to be writ. But maybe you've got some ideas. Please write them below. Books Closed for the Year Fernando Abad (never really opened) A.J. Griffin (cut loose after two AAA starts) Travis d'Arnaud (torn UCL) Matt Harvey (degraded and traded)

Matt den Dekker is hitting well (7 homers!) and he'd hopefully replace a lot of Lagares' defensive value, but he'd be one more lefty in an outfield stacked with 'em, especially while Céspedes is out. Zach Borenstein also swings lefty. That leaves Patrick Kivlehan (R, .286 / .310 / .393 // .703), Ty Kelly (S, .269 / .351 / .493 // .844), and Cody Asche (L, .213 / .275 / .511 // .785). If they want to go real crazy, they can call up Pete Alonso and squeeze him into the picture somehow.

Gosh a-mighty.

Meet Joander Suárez, the latest Venezuelan teenager to put his dream into action. The Braves pursued him, but it's the Mets that caught him. JoJo is a master of "the broken pitches," which sounds dark and awesome. Transactions, 5/14 DirectionCOMINGTransactionSigned As International Amateur Free AgentPosition Group=#FF0000]Starting Pitcher[fimg=90]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2018/05/joander-suarez.jpg[/fimg]NameJoander SuárezDoB2/27/00B/TR/R In order to strengthen their development farm, the New York Mets will sign right-hander Joander Suárez in the coming days, who only needs to comply with the rigorous medical examinations to complete the administrative process. "He must travel on May 1 to the Dominican Republic, where the Mets officials will do the exams. Once they verify their good health, they will stamp their rubric, "said Néstor Delgado, who prepared him for his jump to the professional. Joander took his first steps in baseball following his cousin, Jose Guevara, who for his effort and discipline managed to be signed by the Minnesota Twins. That fact ignited his motivation and made him strive to also reach an MLB organization. "I started playing officially at age 14 with a team from my town Mariguitar, called Los Indios, but I always liked being a pitcher," said the young man who grew up in the east of the country with his grandparents Julián Suárez and Mercedes Velásquez. because his parents came from there. He arrived at the "Cuyaco Sport" academy of professional exoter Néstor Delgado, through his mother, who lives in Vargas. He has been working for a year, but he confesses that he moved very quickly and in a short time he was very well seen by the scouts of the American franchises. "He was attending like three tryouts before they signed him and showed interest in him. In recent months, the Mets closed for his signature because he has a great virtue, throws many strikes and is very controlled, a defining characteristic for a pitcher. They have a very good projection and that's what the people of the New York set told us, "explained Delgado. Suarez has no complications with his mechanics to launch and has dominance in traditional shipments: straight, change and curve. "Nestor helped me a lot to master the broken pitches. He has always been polishing my movements and for that I thank him very much for his dedication. " An additional element to its characteristics is that it has a straight line speed that averages 87 miles, which could improve with the training. Like any player, his big dream is to reach the Major Leagues. Joander is one of those who analyzes successful and experienced pitchers to learn from their movements and effectiveness. "I keep watching videos of the pitchers and one of the ones I'm following is Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros." Joander's signature will be the tenth that is produced for a Cuyaco Sport player. The academy, with twelve years of existence, is based in the César Nieves stadium in Catia la Mar, and operates from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The New York Mets ... had the day off! Off in the west, P.J. Conlon made a strong return to the PCL, as The Las Vegas 51s outslugged the Tacoma Raniers, 8-3. Six of the 10 Vegas hits went for extra bases, including two doubles among Dominic Smith's three hits. The bullpen brigade of Kevin McGowan, Logan Taylor, and Tim Peterson totaled 3 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings innings, giving up but 2 walks while striking out 7. As reported earlier this morning, the red-hot Binghamton Rumble Ponies obliterated their New Hampshire opposition, 11-1. Every Bingo starter had at least one hit (even if Tim Tebow needed five at-bats and four strikeouts to join the club). Jeff McNeil paced the offense at 4-for-6 with a homer and 4 RBI, while Nabil Crismatt got back in the groove on the mound, going 6 innings and giving up 1 run on 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 7. Your St. Lucie Mets had two games scheduled today against the Florida Fire Frogs. Both were washed out! And so we land in The South Atlantic League, where The Columbia Fireflies outlasted the Charleston RiverDogs in a heated pitching battle, 2-1. Tony Dibrell was excellent, holding the Dogs to a single run on 4 hits through 7.0 innings, striking out 7 and walking 4, before the Flies finally broke through in the top of the eighth on an RBI triple by Edgardo Fermin, who then scored the go-ahead on a double by Raphael Gladu. Conner O'Neil and Stephen Villines could scarcely have been more efficient in finishing off the game, pitching perfect ball over the final two frames, striking out five of the six batters they faced. ABBREVIATED ORGANIZATIONAL SWEEP!

Daily News trollling Met fans on behalf of the Yankees. Nothing new.

That's pretty much what Mickey said. They're guy wasn't as affected by the long delay as ours was. The obvious hole in that thinking is ignorable, but only for so long.

I sent with 2002 also, though it's missing a Mookie factor. In fact, those eight images narrate a Mets history devoid of Mets of color. Hmmm. And it concludes with three contemporary italian Americans. Not saying, just saying.

It's weird. The baby looks like Baby Bobby. So it's like it's Bobby v. Bobby.

Despite the Mets' soggy effort against the Royals yesterday, well, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright. The band is playinng somehwere, and that somewhere is Binghamton. The Rumble Ponies, upon crushing New Hampshire, 11-1, have not only knocked the Fisher Cats out of first, but have now won six of their last seven and sit a mere 4 1/2 games off the pace in the Eastern League's Eastern Division. I know, I can't shut up about Jeff McNeil. At this point, it sounds like we're dating, but he's actually put up a better line in May (.390 / .463 / .831 //1.293 with 6 homers and 19 RBI) than Pete Alonso (.310 / .459 / .552 // 1.011, 4, 15), and that's saying something, because as you can see from that parenthetical, Alonso has been pretty unworldly himself. Plus, playing third with the ability to bounce to second or short as needed, probably suggests that he's the more valuable player for this team. No joke! Send him to Vegas!! Free up third for Urena!! Know who else has been lowering the boom? David Roseboom, that's who. He hasn't found a way to turn a corner in Vegas so far (not many have), but he's been killing it in Bingo. So far in May, he's appeared in five games, totalling 7.0 innings, while allowing no fellow Eastern Leaguers to cross the plate. None. Only 4 hits and 2 walks to butt up against 11 strikeouts. And folks, he's getting it done against lefties and righties too. Like a lot of 2018's top performers (including McNeil), this fits into the what-I-can-do-when-I'm-healthy category. If he can even do modestly well in his next crack at the PCL, we'll see him at Citi by the end of the year.
