  1. Do you really believe that's what Ricco, Ricciardi, and Minaya amount to?
  2. I've certainly registered my problems with the team's approach, but it's not hard at all for me to think of a dozen scenarios where they are the winningest team over the next 25 years. Having said that, I think the notion of trading deGrom is for the birds. Sign him to an extension NOW!!!! and start changing the narrative.
  3. My regular computer has been in the shop for a few days, so those minor league updates that have you at the edge of your seats have been tabled until at least tomorrow. But I couldn't let another day go without a snapshot of centerfielder Anthony Dirocie and the hell he's raining upon Appalachian League pitchers as the Kingsport Mets' season gets under way. Anthony is 21 — undeniably old for such a low level — and his career has had a few false starts, but now 10 games and 43 plate appearances into his season, his line is floating above the clouds at (sit down for this) .514 / .558 / .973 // 1.531! Sure, that's bound to come down to earth, but it's not just the good luck that his batted balls are continuing to find holes at a rate over 50% even after 43 trips to the plate, it's also that among his 19 hits are four doubles, two triples and three homers. Kingsport is off to a 7-4 start, and obviously, our Son of Santo Domingo is a big part of that. Anthony Dirocie: not just an athlete, but a scholar and a gentleman. Get to know that name and associate it with good things. [fimg=300]https://www.diariolibre.com/imagenes/2014/23/773201-17.jpg[/fimg]
  4. Something like vintage Familia.
  5. Actually Smith reported the sore wrist. Mick says that he was benched as a matter of strategic choice, pleading ignorance with regard to the sore wrist. The extra batter was encouraging for Matz, as was most of the appearance. The still need 11 outs, though.
  6. Matz is in complete control except when Strailey is up.

  8. There be one. On another 3-2 pitch, too.
  9. Straily is 3-2 on everybody. Got to get to him early.
  10. Rosario just pulled and Elvis Andrus, miming a pretend catch of a popup behind Frazier as Frazier was catching the real ball.
  11. Cabrera just looks like he's missing a few parts. Yet he's playing day in and day out, even DGAANGs.
  12. "Hit sharply ... but into the shift ..." We should work that into the "Meet the Mets" lyrics.
  13. I'm going by the record. And Callaway, of course, oversaw a camp and the season so far in which Smith hasn't bunted If the Mets don't value that skill — even if I see it as fundamental, and I do — then they don't. Callaway has no business acting like he's counter to that philosophy but his hands are tied.

  15. Dominic Smith was credited with a successful sacrifice for Savannah in 2014, so he must've squared at least once.
  16. Why not? He wouldn't be the first player to successfully return from spinal stenosis. Or spinal fusion surgery. Or a torn rotator cuff. All three? Um ...
  17. Part of what I like about road trips to Miami is that Mets who are rehabbing in St. Lucie join the team and dress for the game, and it's jarring when the camera catches a guy that's been away so long that you had your doubts he'd ever come back, and if fact hadn't until that moment realized that he hadn't been released already. "Hey, look, there's our buddy Travis d'Arnaud sitting with his team in the dugout tonight. Travis, Buddy, if you're listening, we're all rooting for you in your recovery from Tommy John surgery. And is that Juan Lagares next to him, Keith? Yes, it is! He's wearing his hair long as he works his way back and we hardly recognized him. He seems to have lost a little of his upper body strength too, but the Mets are trying to get him out there doing what he does as good as anybody, and that's ... oh, hey, is that our old buddy Skip Lockwood?"

  19. It struck me this morning that with regards to Mickey Callaway, the Triumvirate Council may have an advantage. I don't know necessarily that he should be fired. But Mickey couldn't fire him. A GM fires a manager in his first year — a manager that he hired — that suggests that his judgment is clearly unreliable and he needs to go himself. So the manager endures as a sort of GM ass-coverage. The Trimvirate has no such personal investment.
  20. Dreadful. Good point, Cohen.
  21. Teenager behind home plate doing everything he can to put the whammy on Vasquez.
  22. If only Mesoraco could get a turn at bat.
  23. 41Forever wrote: Did you see that stat? We have 20 bullpen losses, worst in the league by three. That'll happen when you hook your starters earlier and earlier and ever earlier.
