  1. Andy Pettitte will go in in 20 years when somebody way too influential for his own good gets a notion in his head.
  2. No, something more, I think.
  3. I think it was Willets who said he enjoyed Karsay because whenever announcers mentioned him, it sounded like they were speaking Pig Latin. I tend to think of Christ the King HS as the Met-lovingest high school in town. I've never met a lot who were either Mets nuts or non-baseball enthusiasts. Never met a Yankee fan from there. Didn't they have a nortorious murderer from there? I think he actually played on their baseball team.
  4. My dog isn't a big Seaver person. She's got a weird thing about Ed Lynch, though.
  5. Matt Silverman https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/remembering-john-delcos-matthew-silverman/?trackingId=UmXd18B1f2VHLRUaIavR6A%3D%3Dremembers John Delcos. 6. Minor League signings: COMING[/td90][td90]COMING[/td90][td90]COMING[/td90]
  7. I'm not sure what Mr. Madden's complaint is.
  8. I think he's a worthy buy at about four years, $60 million, and he's about to get four years, $90 million.
  9. So, I'm at Metacritic now, and I'm torn between the inclinations of Lubis and lps25, who I'm certain are the most reliable reviewers out there. Which one are you closest to? https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/11/screen-shot-2019-11-16-at-11.12.15-am.png> https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2019/11/screen-shot-2019-11-16-at-11.12.40-am.png>
  10. =LWFS post_id=26645 time=1573868667 user_id=84]Also, somehow it's the first damn feature about Harriet Tubman!
  11. =LWFS post_id=26638 time=1573865397 user_id=84] Post-peak Kevin Appier warn't too piqued, either. Now, what we got for 'im... well, I'm glad our team helped in its own, indirect way in funding affordable housing. If we're not signing Wheeler, and we're not in for-REAL-for-real on Cole/Strassy, the best way to improve that fifth starting slot this offseason might just be to trade Dom Smith for Manny Margot and sign Grandal.
  12. That'll make him the fourth nihilist in Mets history — fifth, if you count super-nihilist Tony Clark.
  13. It's amazing that, for every winning cover, we make that same model do that same pose in that same low-ceilinged room.
  14. Sometimes, when you looze a guy, the instinct is to replace him at the least, or you break your brain and your bank trying to upgrade. And that's one option. But if it's easier to plug the hole as best you can and try to improve somewheres else, that's a-valid too. Sometimes when you get into replacement mode, you go backing up the truck for Kevin Appier.
  15. That's a poor approximation of Astros' colors, I think.
  16. I believe you're referring to Satoru Komiyama, who rolled out of bed and ran to the police station.
  17. =LWFS post_id=26584 time=1573793086 user_id=84] There's almost no way the signs could have been relayed that fast WITHOUT using video. And what's the less-egregious alternative, since they didn't have anybody on base? Guy in CF stands with world-record-speed texting fingers?
  18. Jay Jaffe sez "https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lou-whitaker-belongs-in-cooperstown/Lou Whitaker Belongs in the Hall of Fame."
  19. The damning tape above leaves a missing link to the story, though. Because we're watching the video as we hear the bang! we assume that the bang is triggered by someone watching the video, rather than someone in the same timeframe picking up the signals with naked eyes through some other sort of (legal-ish) subterfuge. Of course, a gap of plausible deniability to slither through sure doesn't mean they aren't getting the signs through the video. And if Fiers has filled in those details and it does implicate named people, it actually is an advantage to the investigation that this is breaking during the offseason. It keeps the team from circling the wagons and getting their stories straight, so corroboration probably shouldn't be that hard to attain.
  20. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Takashi not Katashi Dyslexia has gotten me and it will get all of you too! And yeah, I know Koo is Korean, of course. I just thought the floor was open to any Asian ex-pats who prospered at any level in a Mets uniform. Probably the same scouting bureau, anyhow.
  21. Masato Yoshii was pretty decent. Katashi Kashiwada was almost kind of decent. Dae-Sun Koo was an American hero. He should have been granted automatic citizenship.
  22. Somebody really voted MEET THE METHS?
  23. I just want to say, it's 11/11, and I can still think of this game and feel giddy.
  24. Mickey Callawutz may have been sent packing, but he leaves town having had one of his players — as manager and pitching coach — win the Cy Young each of the last three years. Almost four!
