  1. Let us keep in mind that it's the beginning of spring and there's little of substance to talk about. The comments of these players will probably blow over. As will Joel Sherman's hot takes.
  2. Hostpersons want to know.
  3. I wouldn't have guessed him, but the guy was getting invites to camp well before he debuted. And he debuted well before he stuck.
  4. Hubie Brooks T14.
  5. I applaud Joel Sherman's creativity, but I agree that his proposed punishments make little sense. If you have any issues before the court, I hope you don't get Judge Sherman.
  6. Keith didn't get out of bed until two weeks after the games started. But I'm guessing my Backmanian answer failed as well.
  7. Mookie is already in there at 8. I'll go with Wally Backman at #16
  8. MetsRosterCentral https://metsrostercentral.wordpress.com/2020/02/10/the-updraft-comes-early/saw that post coming.
  9. Carrasco gave up another homer in Cincy the next night and that was it. The way I recall, he was pretty philosophical about his release, saying something like pitching terribly was no fun anyhow. Anyhow, erstwhile St. Lucie manager Chad Kreuter is your new Syracuse manager, leaving the Mets skipperless in the Florida State League.
  10. I totally consider Belichick a Jets coach. Pretty good one, too.
  11. Well, I didn't realize the last line of the initial post said no pitchers were in the top 20, but I'll guess Franco is the top serving pitcher.
  12. Does 1974-2005 represent any particular definitive span?
  13. Did his folks name him after Shea Stadium?
  14. Ron Hodges, 14.
  15. John Franco, t17.
  16. Howard Johnson, 9.
  17. Bud Harrelson, 4
  18. Photos of these swoosh-breasted uniforms are bringing out something irrationally angry in me.
  19. You know who always seems to be outside the conversation? Howard Johnson. I'm not sure where the line should be, but he was, by most fair measures, a top-ten Mets batter all-time, almost certainly ahead of Hall-of-Famers such as Mookie Wilson and Rusty Staub. Kraney Krane too. (Although, most "fair" measures aren't particularly fair when it comes to pinch-hitters.)
  20. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Oh but we do. We could focus on what makes the community unique and popular with literally dozens of people: -Wifey Watch -Typewriter Chewing Gum -Tabloid Derby Contests -Historical Rankings -World Championship of Classic Rock -Schaefer PoTG/PoTW Anybody who wants to run with one of these (preferably somebody who already has claim to these particular properties), we're working on a journal of community-specific content and each of those deserve to be featured sections for posts and podcasts. KTEs too. Our business plan is solid. Architecture is going up. But somebody get Zvon back here. We need his graphic design skillset.
  21. Bonus Neil Diamond material. Awesome. But the cargo shorts dance was even better.
  22. I'm all for a Dean Kamen takeover, but nothing about Segways are cool.
  23. When you immediately repeat yourself, it instantly makes your claim more credible. Like I said, it's more believable if you make your claim a second time, right away.
  24. The Battle of the Bulge was nothing compared to bouncing young KC back to the cheapies.
