  1. Not what one would describe as a "clean inning."
  2. Playing stupid cuts no ice with me. People here back up their posts. You don't. What you just wrote is complete bullshit.
  3. Torrens is taking pictures of strikes three tonight.
  4. It's a struggle when you give the starter an opener to shave an inning or two off the front of their starts, and the starter still doesn't finish the sixth, but Raley shuts it down.
  5. Yeah, that was me. And unlike you, I back up what I write. If this isn't meaningful for you, I encourage to you to seek some other place to be. There are plenty of places on the Internet that don't care about no-account posting.
  6. If that Vientos/Semien bet is on, I want that two-run double included on his account.
  7. Please don't presume to tell me what to do. Please don't presume for a minute to suggest I am less than an adult.
  8. Carlos Rodon did not want to come out there. I am happy to bet that Mark Vientos has more WAR ahead of him in his career than Marcus Semien.
  9. I care. I care a lot.
  10. As I noted, though, it is the path to actual victories. Semien swinging at the first pitch in the ninth last night was the path to failure.
  11. There is nothing illogical about it. Gerber has completed his rehab assignment, and they won't need a starter for several days.
  12. Oh, they can mean something on the standings. Making a guy throw more pitches today takes him out of games further down the road. That's how the Mets swept the Detroit series — draining their bullpen in game one. In a game where pitches are nigglingly counted and pitch counts, inning counts and up-downs are passionately curated, making your opponent throw one more pitch matters. Ewing taking a 3-1 pitch three times only to walk or get a hit on the 3-2 pitch? That's a license to print money. That's how you end up facing the other team's backup pitcher on the mound in the late innings of game three.
  13. Reinforces the Biblical adage of feet of clay. As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. But, of course, as long as they swing when I tell them not to swing in the ninth, it won't matter who is pitching.
  14. I'm not sure the Mets have a special corner on animal cruelty and federal felonies. Wilford Brimley, who pitched against the Mets in the Tiger series if I recall, used to have a weird and creepy passion for cockfighting advocacy.
  15. Just forcing the Yanks to (a) us Bednar here and (b) stretch him with three ninth-inning hits is a small victory. (Damn it, Semien, DON'T SWING!)
  16. There really aren't any other graphics I can share that don't make me ashamed of my search terms.
  17. So Howie hasn't seen Star Wars, hasn't seen The Princess Bride, doesn't really know what either of them are about, but he quotes Stripes with glee?
  18. Should've had a pinch-hitter for Torrens leading off there.
  19. Well, they might have faced Schlittler himself in the minors. But hey, tying run at the plate!
