  1. Yeah, MLB thinks of the Cards as, like, real players https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rp-iKuQFwlg/XFHBNHhiYuI/AAAAAAABWlA/O0VzByQPkTQtnMiHxxjE50yWwxo3DEZNgCLcBGAs/s1600/tom%2Bplug.gif>

  3. It's somewhat counter-intuitive, isn't it? You'd think that the DH would (at least) mean shorter games because of fewer substitutions being necessary, but obviously those cuts are being more than offset in other parts of the game, and those legendary Yankee/Red Sox suckathons are going to happen everywhere now. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this wet slog version of baseball we're seeing isn't Spring Training baseball at all, but simply American League baseball.
  4. The thirty-man roster! Brilliant!
  5. I'm no sure what is more disappointing, the letters and numbers on deGrom's back being misrepresentatively sized and positioned, or the photoShop hack job of the ad itself. Keef should retain legal counsel.
  6. The weird thing is to think we're kind of watching spring training play here, and if there is a season, the first place team might not be the best, but simply the one who got their rust off in eight games, rather than fifteen or sixteen.
  7. Confession: I tuned in at 8-2. This loss is on me.
  8. Is Guillorme too calorie-intensive to pinch-run?
  9. I'd send the runner or hit and run or run and hit or do anything to avoid the DP here.
  10. I'm guessing sliding into Betances and catching his spikes is no picnic.
  11. Is it me or d'Oes d'Arnaud look stockier?
  12. Shreve is a real upright pitcher for a lanky guy. He'd do well to do a little drop-and-drive.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I agree that the season seems doomed, but I'm taking an opposite approach. Most Mets seasons don't end with a trip to the playoffs anyway, so I might as well enjoy each game on its own merits. This is the igloo I'm living in. To heck with the post-season. Win the day, precious and few as our days may be.
  14. Davis got the same pitch three times in a row. Took two for strikes, and served the third, which had the least plate of the three, one into right for the RBI. Sweet piece of hitting, but it's certainly helpful when Chacin sticks with the same pitchy.
  15. Glad to see Canó hitting, but spiking that DP ball sure hurt.
  16. The cardboard comeback isn't a thrill.
  17. Do these cardboard Braves fans have any cardboard racist rituals?
  18. Lefty Specialist wrote: Mets seem to be making a play for being one of the 14 teams that DON'T make the expanded playoffs. I think the truth is that a whole lot of folks don't seem ready to play baseball, all around the league. I mean, it's not like the Red Sox were the better team, so much as the lesser-bad team.
  19. Diaz looks like the same guy. Some of the best stuff in the league and no idea where he's throwing it. I think the project he most reminds me of is Jorge Julio. But Julio was never the closer, and once the Mets got him settled down for two good weeks, they traded him for Orlando Hernández.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: And once again nothing out of the infield Well, it seems like an hour ago, but McNeil lined to left and Davis dropped a single in front of the centerfielder.
  21. What a marathon dry hump of an inning that turned into.
  22. What an inning. The Mets are close to batting around without scoring. And every at-bat goes to 3-2.
  23. Barnes is really close to grinding his way through this.
