  3. I feel like the Mets are being beaten by some daytrippers here.
  4. So, with an injury pinch creating opportunities in the infield, and Giménez stepping up and J.D. Davis re-asserting himself as a thirdbaseman, things could be tight as the wounded warriors return. Maybe Canó, rehabbing a leg injury after all, will be the team's new DH when he comes back. God, making plans about who is going to DH feels dirty, and not in a good way.
  5. But Davis pegged a guy.
  6. It's a weird game. A million strikeouts, but most of the balls put in play are dropping in.
  7. Also, where does Cervelli get off hitting a homer?
  8. Hard times when you have to tell Nimmo to get his head in the game.
  9. Our leaders fight it out with 210 potential points still on the board!! Fun Fact: As our slots disappear, and our team cards are turned over, great is the likelihood that if you got the right guy, you're gonna guess the right slots!! There are fifteen pointers everywhere!! SP 19 is cliff lee. i guess he's kinda the opposite of gio. go big and go home. Talk about going big!!! That's a fifteen pointer right there!! And the last of our starting pitchers!! DAMMIT THAT WAS MINE. Quit crying, you big baby! There are plenty of points still on the board!! I'll go with one I was less than sure on: Gattis as that Brave-'Stro at #9 DH? Like that guy right there!! You just whined your way to 15 points!! You also became the second player in the history of this game to break through the 500-point ceiling!! 10. Hold it in! Arrange some backup guesses! Spend some time with your family! Hell, spend some time with MY family!!!
  11. ugh, is tyler freakin' flowers our catcher #9? i feel like he's been around forever enough to make a catcher list. Answer like a man! Not a koala!! Hell, YEAH, it's Tyler Flowers!! THAT's an "ugh?" Try (suppresses vomit) this redass at #10 (I'm guessing): http://riveraveblues.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/AP100829032463.jpg?x38537> Yes! If spending the bulk of your career as an over-glorified platoon player can get Bill Dickey into the Hall of Fame, surely it can get Francisco Fucking Cervelli into the very edge of our Top Catchers of the Teens list! Hey, you know what's a bigger UGH than Cervellli or Flowers?! Cervelli AND Flowers!!! [FIMG=300]https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2016/05/Cervelli.Francisco-2-200x300.jpg[/FIMG] Chad ochoseis wrote: Still an open slot in centerfield at #7? I'll go with the other CF who shares a birthday with me, AJ Pollock. I'm so sorry! That's incorrect! Pollock was merely 19th among centerfielders in the decade!! You lose three points! Actually, I'm not sorry! Except, I AM sorry about lying about how sorry I was! Or WASN'T!! fuck. YEAH! Time to get PROFANE!! THAT's the guys whose name i couldn't fucking remember. well, him and russell martin alike, actually. screw 'em both. That's TOTALLY the attitude we're looking for here at TOP! TEENAGE! BALLPLAYERS!! side note. i can't wait to see our quizmaster's response to your photo-as-guess. you may get docked a few points there. ballsy. The quizmaster may be kind of dick, but he's still about giving folks a fair shake!! We could be real miserly about the pictoguess, but seriously, is there ANY tasteful way to give an answer of that fucking meathead Francisco Cervelli?!!! We think NOT!! At least he didn't post a photo of Shelly Fucking Duncan!! God damn, there would have been consequences!! But here's an idea ... I'll do me and you do YOU!!! now that (i think) we may have closed off the catchers, that DH category is really starting to bother me. who the hell are these guys. why don't we know #2? how low is the freaking bar, damnit? It's fucking REAL LOW!! These are DESIGNATED HITTERS for Pete's sake!!! Do you realize that for the first time in history this season, the Mets had a DESIGNATED designated hitter, and he just opted the fuck out?!! It's like he had to decide to between mathletes and cello, gave his indifferent apologies, and just fucked off!! FUCK DESIGNATED HITTERS!! and how did joe mauer not get enough time at DH to be the twins guy? i'm so confused. You've been thinking out loud for a bunch of paragraphs here! How about an answer??!! damn... i was hoping that by blathering on i would come up with a new name. none come to mind. justin morneau DH2. Not THAT answer!! Three points, just fucking taken from you and you can't do nothing about it!! We strangely have a sufeit of M's in our Incorrectly Guessed Designated Hitters pile!! Hit me while checking scores tonight... this guy's STILL around? Praises be to compilers. #12 SP Gio Gonzalez GIO!! It's not just a shitty car!! Fifteen points for you!! 12. That Horace Clarke mask looks kinda creepy.
  13. That would be interesting and fun.
  14. The Mets have a long history — and it's continued under several regimes/development directors — of pushing a class of Latin American infielders hard, so that observations of their seemingly pedestrian offensive stats are frequently tempered by "but that's pretty good considering he was the youngest/second youngest player in the league." The idea is that they pass a level just proving that they're good enough to belong there, even though they aren't really hitting like All-Stars or anything, and they gain confidence playing with older players, and catch up once they get to the bigs. They are in their third year by the time other players their age are coming up, and they are ready to dominate. That's the theory, anyhow. I tend to have my doubts. Too often such players have been playing defense at the plate facing older pitching, and they debut with little idea of the strike zone.
  15. Better than Sandy Alomar, who replaced him at second after the Steinbrenner era began.
  16. Javier Guerra, by the way, is trying to pull a Skip Lockwood, debuting in 2018 as a big league thirdbaseman, but now trying to re-establish himself as a big-league reliever.
  17. I take it back somewhat. While fWAR suggests Andrés has been productive in the abstract, his negative WPA tells a tale of him not being productive in the concrete. So if you weight both of those metrics equally, he sits in the back of a still-tight field, but one or two big hits can turn around WPA numbers, especially this early. (Not for nothing, but "Nashville"?) 18. I've been following the "race." Right now, the main contender is former Met tanning champion Phillip Evans, currently leading the league with a .485 on-base percentage for Pittsburgh. But behind him, Gimenez is as solid a contender as any.
  19. Pacino might be fun. I'm not thinking that he'd be very good, but he'd be fun.
  20. If we're reaching into history, well, at the right age, Burgess Meredith could kill it as Casey. Taking contemporary actors as they are now? Tommy Lee Jones? Billy Crystal?
  21. Big RBI for Mr. Guillorme, too. Hitting to contact can work, also!
  22. Ariel Jurado is exciting. I don't have time to look it up, but I'm gonna guess this will be the littlest mermaid in Mets history.
  23. I honestly don't know what day it is.
  24. The Marlins bring their all their cooties to New York and the Mets try to build some momentum. Don Mattingly, currently filling out lineup cards with names of players he's scarcely been introduced to, has allegedly tapped Sandy Alcantara to start. Michael Wacha defends for the homies. If things work out, the Mets build a nice little bridge to deGrom Day, Andrés Giménez continues to establish himself as the greatest #60 in baseball history, and President Trump is removed from office.
