  1. Harsh roster reporting at Mets.com! https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2021/02/screen-shot-2021-02-13-at-3.11.39-pm.png>
  2. Pretty funny to lament the declining latter-day fake news standards of a once-great journalism outlet that's less then five years old.
  3. Guillermo Heredia gets fifteen. Bad news for Teebs who is rocking a tight end number like he kinda sorta shoulda done back in the NFL.
  4. dinosaur jesus wrote: He looks like a truncated centaur. You know, Zvon would have taken this post as a challenge. And it would not be a challenge he'd have let go unanswered.
  5. Wow. I feel like I just won something. I want to get on stage and make a teary-eyed speech. David Wright's back is my memory of Mike Barwis.
  6. He's among my picks for dudes who got jerked around insufferably by the AAA-MLB shuttle. His minor league numbers are très sucré.
  7. That guy is gonna make it to 200 homers easy and probably 2,000 hits too.
  8. I got your physical right here! https://i.pinimg.com/474x/99/90/bc/9990bc2bbb478b6aaab3e6a81d205d46.jpg>
  9. Sewald is totally going to be an asset.
  10. In 1980, Zanyatta Mondatta got A&M out of the hole that Beat Crazy put them in.
  11. Lots of memorializing these days. Mets Roster Central must be having a power outage or something. In the battle of the Greatest Chasen in Mets History, I'm calling it a dead heat between Shreve and Bradford. The fans are NOT happy.
  12. I guess the Tigers moved out of the Mets' orbit. I guess there will be no more games against Michigan U. also.
  13. Got his one hit in the third inning a 4-3 come-from-behind, seven-inning win against the Yankees in an August 28 doubleheader. I'd argue that this alone qualifies him as a Yankee-killer, but two innings later he came up with runners on first and second and no outs with a chance to bust the game open and he hit into a 5-3 double-play.
  14. I do like the thought of this news coming on top of the team bringing Jed Lowrie back, seeing as they're the only team where he has enough goodwill to bounce the embarrassment of the last two years into a subhead. "Gosh, the A's are really digging in the trash. They just re-signed Lowrie." "Well, he gave us some good years. I realize there's only the slimmest hope that he has more than 25 cents worth of baseball left in him, but I like him and if he's gotta bow out, it's cool that he'll bow out here." "They just announced that they've traded Carpenter and I think Lowrie's the new thirdbaseman." "Ummm ... ." It's like the Mets bringing in Curtis Granderson on a non-roster free-agent contract. It's more or less cool to have him working out with the team again in St. Lucie, signing some autographs with his glove on his head, and then hanging it up in two weeks. But then, you hear news of Michael Conforto being on the trading block ... .
  15. Same motivation as everybody — seeing more potential value in what's coming in. That said, I'm guessing this won't be a thing.
  16. Ouch. That's my Tracky.
  17. J.D. Davis may be starting to take this all personally. Chapman would require quite a hall, as the 27-year-old is one of the best two-way players in all of baseball, and has three seasons of control left. He and the A's agreed on a $6.49 million deal for 2021, his first year of arbitration eligibility. "Hall"?
  18. I'm guessing that they never really thought he came all the way back from injury last season, as he otherwise would be entering the season with a track record to give him as solid a lock on the depth chart as anybody not named Diaz or Familia. (Solid as a Brach!) Now he's getting bumped off the roster while Daniel Zamora remains? Ponderous. Sounds like another guy who is missing the old GM.
  19. Seemed like the real thing, only to find mucho mistrust. It's hard to play center and wear 16 and not trigger at least a little Mazzilli afterglow. Same with Ángel Pagán, you can't look at a 16 in center for the Mets, and not think, "Good or bad, that mofo is beautiful out there. He's right where he belongs." Worth the price of admission all by itself.
  20. I don't think I've ever said this about anybody, but Robel looks good in an Angels hat.
  21. Matz gave us this guy plus two other pitchers.
  22. Nice Leon Spinks tribute.
  23. Man, I knew it was gonna be HardCore. He was living under a cloud the last few days.
  24. Seems like a pretty good get. Slap hitter in AA, but he's shown some power in the lower minors, knows what a walk looks like, and steals bases like he's Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue. Top-ten Royals prospect from Newark, Delaware, where they don't take shit from nobody.
  25. Man, I feel like we've been documenting a whole lotta death these days. If I recall correctly, Billy became something of a big karate guy following his early retirement.
