  1. Ugly tie, Gary. Hideous. The toughest part is that the "blue" is a lot closer to Miami teal than New York royal.
  2. Hey, let's not forget Brodie Volkswagon. He HAPPENED.
  3. Well, Loup has his Schaeferiest game, anyhow.
  4. Just a terrific night for Morton. Pillar should have to drive him back to the hotel.
  5. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=f70af637Big Sexy going 4-1 / 3.82 for Acereros de Monclava.
  6. Strange that we're in the seventh inning, and the only runs in the game were set up by using the shift. Stranger that Morton has utterly owned them all night. They've consistent swung at balls and looked at strikes.
  7. Walker's next start may be for the Mets.
  8. And an infield hit breaks it up!!
  9. No hitter going, and the Mets are now using their second pinch-hitting pitcher of the game.

Then they had to support 26-man teams that expanded to 26 for double-headers, along with 10-day disabled list assignments. This inflation seems bonkers to me, but if this is the way it's going to be, they eventually have to expand the 40-man as well. This is a good conclusion. It took a little Casey detour to get there but it makes sense if you put in the work. I hope that GMs are pushing Manfred on this idea. Editors tell me I have a long windup.
  11. It's disappointing to hear Keef talking about the universal DH as a fait accompli.
  12. Thank you for swinging at garbage, RA, Jr.
  13. I keep getting fooled by Yennsy. Everytime I see him, I realizing that he's bigger than I expect a Yennsy to be. That said, he doesn't look like he loosened up very thoroughly.
  14. They kind of had to call up Zeke. I imagine Nido's hand looks like a canned ham.
  15. Very good move. Beating up on him last week, they depressed the Stock price, and then gobbled him up for nothing while the Cubs were selling low. Steve Cohen knows how to play the Stock market.
  16. I'm sorry. Please allow me to put that differently. I agree that the Mets trading for Max von Scherzer is unlikely.
  17. Yes, I know where I'm posting.
  18. I'm not advocating or saying it's likely. I was only stating that the Nats have some of the biggest prizes that people will be going for.
  19. If the Nats are moving a guy for the last two months of his contract, I don't think they would care much about a division rival being the recipient if that's where the best deal is. Folks make selloff trades to division rivals all the time. I'm not advocating, though. As for your second point, certainly.
  20. Eickhoff certainly didn't answer my dreams, but he's earned another start. Peterson has pitched his way back into good graces for the time being as well. Thoses graces, of course, are more temporary than most. Names you should consider throwing love at include Misters Reid-Foley, Y. Diaz, Kilome, and Szapucki. You know how it is with trades. You'd like to shop now and get as much time out of a guy, but more guys become available, perhaps at more reasonable rates, as the trade deadline nears. I think the Nats could be huge sellers this year — Scherzer, Hand, Schwarber, maybe even Strasburg though he's got five years left. Curious that they all sound Germanic. It would have helped if the Mets made a stronger statement over the Nats last week. Everybody wants more pitching. Let's hit.
  21. Leading candidate for the first 21st Century Met are Ronny Mauricio and Francisco Alvarez, currently running in a dead heat in Brooklyn.
  22. The no-hitter game picked up after the rain, but the O's managed a single and homer off the new Houston pitcher Brandon Bielak, who was just great in Blossom.
  23. It's honestly new to me also, but I'm trying to roll.
