  1. Lindor had a lot of hits as a blond. I'm surprised he's gone back to the gunmetal gray.
  2. Hard to believe the Mets haven't scored yet. The Pirates may be making a Kuhl change pretty soon.
  3. I see the Pirates deploying a centerfielder named Reynolds against the Mets, and I'm thinking ... R.J.?
  4. Good point. The Mets may end up needing Eickhoff after all.
  5. Look, friends, Billy McKinney is a nice player, but he wasn't going to be part of a meaningful pennant run. Thanks for the memories, Billy. Looking forward to his name coming up in a 2025 off-season quiz and thinking "oh yeah, THAT guy." Ha! Seawolf loves Eickhoff!

  7. This is the regular-season debut for umpvertising.
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: Is Gary T. not doing Orioles games anymore? Will Keith also call him 'Gar'? Gary was trying to negotiate his contract mid-season with the O's last year, and they told him to get stuffed and yanked him from the booth. He was let go officially in January.
  9. Nothing on Twitter neither. Maybe a trade is a-brewin'.
  10. Davis had only 50 plate appearances back in Apoo, but man, did he hit the piss out of the ball. When everybody else in the lineup was making wind, it was the Brandon and J.D. Show. It'll be interesting to see if he's got any of that left. If he does, it's certainly debatable how much of an upgrade Bryant is over Davis and Villar.
  11. Reporting that somebody is unavailable due to COVID protocols is pretty much what's been going on all along the last two seasons. I'm not sure why it's remarkable at this point. It doesn't mean that somebody has COVID, but it places that possibility high on a very short list of likelihoods. Folks can and will draw their own conclusions, and maybe the player will elect to be more forthcoming, and life goes on.
  12. Booo! Eickhoff really dodged a bullet there.
  13. I appreciated the Little Falls hat, because the hat insignia, like all the Mets uniform fonts, was invented just for the team's purposes. (Actually, that's not entirely true. The hat insignia was a font invented just for the Giants' purposes.) What makes that cool is that anybody who wants to use those fonts to spell out anything besides "NY," "New York," or "Mets," has to create the lettering on their own, backward engineering to try to come up with a "K" (for instance) that is consistent with the Mets "N." I'm sure more than a few have tried to do the whole alphabet in those fonts, but nothing official has been produced, or at least, nothing the team has validated as official and authentic. At least, not that I've seen. And so, various pro and amateur graphic designers have done their best on their own, with varying levels of success. (Although, it would be great if the Mets released their own definitive versions.) Little Falls version is neither a great nor a terrible attempt — kudos for making the bottom of the L do double-duty as the middle lash on the F — but at the same time, it comes out as only one or two quick strokes short of a swastika. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/cb/26/3c/cb263ceec5c1b08db89a4da82ce6001d.png> https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/pnMAAOSwl05epfoy/s-l300.jpg> https://www.tcdb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/71756/71756-5171516Fr.jpg> https://www.tcdb.com/Images/Cards/Baseball/71718/71718-5165984Fr.jpg> https://i.pinimg.com/474x/0f/d0/41/0fd041e32d86cba3c9867183dc732e22.jpg> https://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1988/Bill-Pucko-Little-Falls-Mets---Base/24/Anthony-Young.jpg?id=9e181976-74ce-446d-bf5e-5dda60701b76&size=original> Sadly, that bottom-middle guy — Lee May, Jr. — wasn't around for those halcyon days of that trick with the L and the F. AY wasn't either, from the looks of it.
  14. At least you know what became of yours. I salute Kaspar and yourself for putting it to excellent use.
  15. Minor league Mets lids I have floating around somewhere include Tidewater/Norfolk, Binghamton, Hagerstown, Kingsport, and (I think, somewheres) Little Falls. Really, I'm not sure where any of them are, but given a chance, I can probably find each of them with the LF exception. That one may be lost to history.
  16. I have one jersey. No name or number on the back. Pretty classic road grey button down, but with some black drop-shadowing that I just have to offer up to God. The velcro above the top button to keep the neck closed for some reason makes me feel really professional. I have a half a dozen hats. But my two rules are (1) to never wear more than one piece of Mets-branded attire in public; (2) except at the ballpark, where you should never wear more than two-pieces of Mets-branded attire. It's goodish to show solidarity and and fidelity, but you don't want to suggest to the outer world that you're under the delusion that you could be called into action at any moment.
  17. Yeah, he should have taken up punting after the Mets let him go.
  18. That 13-4 win on July 9 is all over the board, and currently features a points tie for PotG. VOTE!
  19. Rock-sold Tidrow-memories in today's https://uni-watch.com/2021/07/16/a-uni-watch-look-at-dick-tidrow/?fbclid=IwAR2S-TQb_BPSb9DNunWKNS9DNzMz4XSfcSGXomHAZb1nGk4DSa7tCFvjPk4Uni-Watch Column. It almost looks like 2/3 of his leg is above the knee.
  20. Perhaps just as importantly, it also reads like a signal that the Cubs won't.
  21. Oh, yes, there are rules of engagement. I wrote them. Really, the first is to not be awful. It's not hard and it's certainly not too much to ask.
  22. No, I don't think you're a Wilpon. And I certainly don't think any comment warrants a nuclear reaction.
  23. so is responding to facts with _no, that's definitely wrong_ "So is..." nothing. This is two wrongs make a right logic. Please don't use that. But go ahead, call me condescending for posting facts and getting bristly when they're ignored instead of just bowing out and admitting you were wrong. No, that's not why I used that descriptor. You certainly know that.
  24. Being more condescending is not helping. It's just a bad play.
  25. The Conservation of Gary Law is unbreakable.
