MLB has once again decided that I am within the local blackout area for theis game. I'm over 500 miles from freakin' CitiField. That's about being within the Nats' zone, not the Mets', no? Probably, just getting home and signing in, I had forgotten that this series was in Washington. However, I was blocked from mosrt of the recent Atlanta series at CitiField. My post overlapped with Chad's. You can try complaining to MLB because unless the Nats channel -- MASN, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network -- is available in your area via your local cable company or whatever you're using, they shouldn't block you even if you're in the supposed area.

I'm over 500 miles from freakin' CitiField. They will never sucker me into paying for MLB.com again. I'm blocked for over half of the Mets home games. Is this MLB.TV? What I suspect is that they've decided you're within the Nationals 'home' area and so you're blocked that way. You should be able to find out which teams you're blocked for when you sign up for that service. I figure for you it would just be the Braves but some areas "overlap" and you can get two or more on the no-go list. That both are division rivals for the Mets just makes it worse since that's 38 games right there.

  4. Edgy MD wrote: Who is this dude in Zimmerman's clothes? Yeah, anyone who had THAT in the pool come collect your winnings. 15 HRs last year in 450 ABs. 10 now in less than 80
  5. That's why we pay Jerry Blevins the sorta kinda big money.
  6. Nice catch by Grandy but I would have felt a whole lot better with Lagares out there chasing it. Terry could have PH'd Lagares last inning for Grandy after they IW'd Walker but Dusty would have instantly switched to the RH Blanton anyway.
  7. Ronnie has a tendency to overdo the 'I wasn't that good' angle about his own career. It's an easy trap for announcers to fall into and maybe my one complaint about his style is that he should do that less often.
  8. Let's beat up this pen, OK? Shit everyone else has, it's this team's one true weakness so far.
  9. We had Scherzer in least partial pitch-count danger (more than 5 innings worth of pitches in 4 IP) but pretty much just put him back on track with a 1-2-3 inning on six pitches.
  10. O-o-T-S Interruption -- NOW the Red Sox remember how to hit!!! After two days of getting shutout on 3 hits over 7 innings by Luis Severino (they almost came back on Chapman) and then getting shutout on 3 hits over 9 innings by Tanaka, tonight they pounded Arrieta and the Cubs for 5 runs in the 1st

  12. And just when I was abusing the lack of RBIs by NYM catchers -- 11 coming into today (9 for d'Arnaud, 2 for Rivera) while the Atlanta catchers had 7 in a two-game span -- and here Travis is with five and counting in just 4 innings.
  13. Harvey has apparently said he worked out hard in the weight room the day before but that's quite different than getting "blown out in the bullpen" as if he was intentionally abused by Terry and his coaches the day before a possible start. This is the first I'm hearing about the Cespedes angle but I think the author of that linked piece is seeing what he wants to see in order to find evidence for his predetermined story. He takes one swing -- which to me looks like Yeonis tweaking his hand on that one -- and he interprets it as him being 'practically unable to stand up'. Look, I understand that it's easy to blame mostly faceless coaches and trainers and front office guys when the team suxx or get injured because it gives fans someone to kick around. But injuries happen regardless of what you do and Harvey would be better just being quiet after a bad outing rather than blaming his weightlifting routine.
  14. Ashie62 wrote: Harvey gets blown out Wednesday in bullpen and then starts. Cespedes hobbles in BP and plays. Do we have evidence that either of these occurred or are we just making shit up now?

  16. Edgy MD wrote: So, even taking one of three will be a moral victory. Taking two would be an outrageous upset. Three would be a season-saver. At the moment I'd settle for NOT being multiple runs down by the end of the 1st inning.
  17. [u:2ome2vr4]KTE @ Nats - Apr 28-30[/u:2ome2vr4] Nats a 16-6 overall, have lost twice in the last two weeks, and are coming off a game in Colorado where they scored more runs in yesterday's 7th inning than the Mets have all week. I'd put up individual stats but it's too depressing, just assume that every member of their lineup is hitting over .400 with power because that's pretty close to true. Their bullpen still sucks (6.18 ERA - .295 BAA) but they managed to hold the Mets to no runs on 1 hit over 8 innings in the last series. Friday 7:05 -- Max Scherzer vs deGrom Mets notched 3 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings vs Scherzer on Sunday courtesy of HRs from Conforto and Walker Saturday 1:05 (yes, apparently day games on Saturday are still permitted) -- Steven Strasberg vs Wheeler We missed Strasberg last time around (paternity leave), he's 2-0 in 4 starts with 2.89 ERA and 1.04 WHIP Sunday 1:05 -- Joe Ross vs some fan who wins a lucky drawing to be held on Saturday 2 starts for Ross so far this season, the most recent one on Monday when he got thumped in Colorado in the only game the Nats have lost since April 15. Overall Mets are 1-1 against him in 3 career starts
  18. No he didn't, but I think these guys are spooked both by the contact rule and by the injury situation. But sending Bruce with no outs and Inciarte fielding a ball about 10 feet behind 2nd base was just plain awful, and sending Granderson in a spot where 99% sure isn't enough was maybe worse.
  19. Might have gotten away with one on the play at the plate, but either way it was two bad sends by Sherlock today. Even our coaches are in a slump!!
  20. And just in case you're not feeling secure on all the other stuff, that's now 6 walks from Familia in now 3.1 IP this season
  21. An article on Ngoepe Just stumbled across this and so haven't read it yet. But it's SI's Gary Smith so it'll certainly be in depth and it'll almost as certainly be great. Also not a surprise that Smith was on this story nearly eight years ago! And he also singled in his first ever AB Wednesday night, going 1-2 plus a walk.
  22. Braves catchers have 7 RBIs in the last 14 innings. Mets catchers have 11 RBIs this season.
  23. That's how you capitalize on momentum ... giving up 3R HRs to backup catchers!!
  24. I just find it funny that essentially the last move they made prior to massive layoffs which acknowledged a payroll overstuffed with with yakkers and ex-jocks was to continue the pattern that got into that mess in the first place, namely deciding that they can't possibly live without whichever newly-retired player or out-of-work coach was available. Rex just happens to be the this year's example. Although, to be fair to ESPN, it's not like that same practice hasn't been SOP at news orgs too. 'Hey, we got a chance to steal Katie Couric away from ______' 'But what would we do with her?' 'I don't know, but we got a chance to steal Katie Couric ... think of the pub we'll get from that!!!!'
