  2. Nice outing by Wheeler who's now done after six. I was again worried about his pitch count early. At one point when he had still given up just one hit and one walk he somehow still managed to be averaging over 5 pitches/batter but by the end of his 6th and final inning he had brought that average down to a little over 4/per. Just to put that 5 pitches/batter into perspective, at that rate you could pitch a perfect game and still require 135 pitches to finish it.

That seemed to have short, fat and hairy legs for an absolutely false (being the reason for suspension, not Harvey putting it in the locker) rumor. Because when B follows A people tend to assume that A caused B And since no one knew the cause of the suspension when it was first announced, fans went back to the last thing they could remember and came up with the naughty object in the newly-circulated photo.

Has anyone ever considered that it might just have been Plawecki's dildo? I forget where it was, but Plawecki confirmed that it was left there as a prank. Sure, that's what he wants you to believe!
  5. Or maybe the minutes of the meeting had tears in them and now Jay Horowitz is going to need to re-type them out all over again on un-torn sheets of paper.
  6. Missed by at least 150 feet.
  7. I don't know, a mystery injury doesn't help anyone -- and if Harvey's going to challenge this mini-suspension he's shirley going to fight a non-injury hoax. An additional suspension would have to be the result of a whopper between now and Friday that I can't even imagine. Which leaves the only scenario left as a trade although, as stated before, if that's going to happen it seems much more likely to be in late July or in November than now. The real drama is going to be in his next home start (that they're delaying his start for the first game of the next road trip is the least surprising thing on the planet other than a stupid late night Donald tweet) but that'll be nearly two weeks from now and only after, as Sam once said to Ilsa, "a lotta water under da bridge".
  8. Ashie62 wrote: Go five Zack!! And see if you can stay under 100 pitches while doing so. If nothing else we should have a full bullpen backing him as everyone who pitched last night covered the three full innings with a minimum of fuss: Salas = 10 pitches, Blevins (9), Reed (13) and Familia (5 !!) with an infield single off of Blevins as the only blemish. The rest haven't thrown since Sunday, although Robles was briefly warming up last night.
  9. themetfairy wrote: You know what was really lovely? Familia's 9th inning - quick, efficient and without drama. Hopefully it's a sign that Jeurys has got his groove back! Last two Familia outings -- Friday with a one-run lead, Monday in a tie game: a total of 2 innings, 6 up/6 down on just 12 pitches (7 on Friday, 5 yesterday). 12 pitches is more typically about what he throws to 2 batters. Perhaps not coincidentally he's had zero strikeouts in that time, relying instead on 3 Ground-Outs, 2 IF pops, and one Fly-out
  10. He's still popping up far too often, but at least those are happening less often than before and the stuff in between is getting better.
  11. metirish wrote: Will he make himself available to the media later today?, does he have to?, should he ?, intrigue to say the least. I would imagine he is feeling rather sheepish right about now , likely working on a plan with Boras and family....or me might not give a fiddlers fuck Oh he'll have to talk at some point. It could be formal or not, to individual writers or en masse, but he's not going to be able to hide behind his pending grievance while acting like the victim here and clam up in order to send a message of 'Fuck Terry' and 'Fuck Sandy'*, and the reason he can't do that is because if he doesn't talk then the press goes after his teammates for their thoughts on all things Harvey and they're not going to put up with that. * it just occurred to me that 'Fuck Terry' and 'Fuck Sandy' were what Springsteen was trying to do in 'BACKSTREETS' and in '4th of JULY, ASBURY PARK'
  12. - first walk-off win of the year - picked up a full game on Nats and Marlins, 1/2 game on Braves & Phillies - Walker's stay of execution is put off for now
  13. 5 pitch inning for Familia. If they don't score in the 9th they should come back with him for top 10
  14. I realize that in nearly 90,000 posts there are bound to be some boo-boos, but you have to hold the all-time CPF record for posting in the wrong threads.
  15. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Nimmo just homered to lead off the game for Vegas. I guess he's fine. Wait, so this would mean that RotoWorld simply repeated information they read elsewhere with no verification and it turned out to be either late or wrong? Wow, how unusual is that?!!?
  16. That's now 11 LOB tonight and 2-12 w/RiSP
  17. I would have sworn Cabrera's thumb injury would have been at least a month when it first happened.
  18. Orioles hold on to win 6-4 -- they were leading 6-0 and the Nats had the final run thrown out at home plate. Didn't see the play but I don't see how it could have been a smart one considering that it was 2nd & 3rd with one out so is wasn't the tying run.

  20. Derek Law in to pitch. He, of course, is part of the all-legal team in MLB, a squad that includes Aaron Judge, David Justice, Jon Jay, and Johnny Bench
  21. And we keep the 'give-back' inning streak going.
  22. O-o-T-S break Nats down 6-1 in the 5th in game 1 of 'Beltway Series' That's Gio Gonzalez taking it on the chin. Marlins getting thumped by the Cardinals, 9-2 in the 5th Phils & Braves are idle today (some say they're idle even when they play but that's another issue) Yanx up 4-1 in Cincy despite getting into town probably around mid-morning sometime considering their late night at Wrigley. And the Cubs went from 6 hours of playing in sub-40 degree weather on an even longer trip out to Denver where ... the game is being delayed by a hailstorm
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Wilmer, a hit couldn't have said "triple" any more without an official ruling from the commissioner. It's Wilmer, he's lucky he got to 2nd.
  24. - another 1st inning deficit - another walk for deGrom - and another NYM pitcher in pitch-count trouble early on
  25. If the team is bottoming out in July you may see a deal, although this coming off-season is much more likely. But the details of whatever he pulled on Saturday (and we still don't know MOST of them) would have to be really hairy for this to approach a 'Must deal NOW!!!!' type of situation.
