  1. If that was overturned the Mets should have taken it all the way to the World Court in The Hague.
  2. That was a designed play ya know.

Gary kept insisting that you sometimes see that called but I'm thinking; "When?!?" Most of the time you couldn't get a call even when the Utleys and Biggios of the world were actively sticking various limbs directly into the path of the pitch.
  4. Half-a-Hundred 'On pace for' 62.8 11th guy to reach 50 or more by this date. The other ten all reached at least 60
  5. Cuz after all, he's my Seawald When Manfred turns his attention to game pace this winter (with or without the player side input) these mid-inning pitching changes should be the first target. I know that the relievers chapter of the union still insists that the bullpen mounds aren't the same as the field mound and therefore they need their additional eight warmups but, y'know what, then make those bullpen mounds up to par so it's not a two minute break each time there's a pitching switch. And the other argument is about lost commercial time but, unlike the between innings breaks, these stoppages aren't pre-known and contracted for. Besides, it'll still take the better part of a minute to make the swap and I'm sure the telecasts can get creative with ads during the change. That bottom 6th just had an additional four minutes of dead time over and above the already built-in dead time because Terry used three pitchers.

  7. Nimmo has a tendency to be patient to a fault. Not suggesting he should actively seek to change his approach especially since his ML ABs have been few and far between, but I wouldn't mind seeing him get gradually more aggressive over these final six weeks as he's pretty much going to be in the lineup every day.
  8. Bottom 1st in the Bronx today: - Pop-out - Double - Single, run scores, batter advances to 2nd on Error - Walk - Error on ground ball (bases now loaded) - Error on grounder (second consecutive potential inning-ending GiDP) - K - 3-RBI Double, batter moves to 3rd on a double Error (catch then throw) - RBI Single - FO I made some comment a few weeks back about teams seemingly saving up their worst games for the Yanx (us included) 7-1 Yanx after 3, 2 of the runs are earned Meanwhile the Royals, one of the teams fighting for an AL WC spot, coughs up 12 runs in the first two innings to the Indians (only one error)
  9. Fedde ain't ready.
  10. Not quite sure why we're going with 'Gselling the Drama' again in a game where there'll be no Gsellman in the drama - or even on the 25-man roster for that matter. NIMMO - RF LAGARES - CF CABRERA - 2B FLORES - 3B SMITH - 1B d'ARNAUD - C ROSARIO - SS REYNOLDS - LF MILONE - P I'd prefer to see Wilmer at 2nd and Cabrera at 3rd KENDRICK - 2B DIFO - SS RENDON - 3B ZIMMERMAN - 1B WIETERS - C TAYLOR - CF DE AZA - LF BAUTISTA - RF FEDDE - P Erick Fedde (rhymes with Freddie) -- RHP, 6' 4" / 180 -- was the Nats 1st round pick (18th overall) in 2014 out of UNLV despite them knowing in advance that he needed TJ surgery. But the Nats haven't been shy about drafting pre-injured players in recent years so his pro start was delayed until 2015 with only 64 IP and then another 121 in 2016 This season, in addition to a bunch of relief outings, he's made 7 AA starts, 6 AAA starts, and 2 ML starts [one in June, one back on August 6th -- 9.1 IP, 11 RA on 18 hits + 6 BBs]
  11. So you want to make the case that Conforto's injury, one which he's reportedly had twice before, is a direct result of medical malpractice which is just now being discovered by his employers of (five?) years? Good luck with that.
  12. Chad Ochoseis wrote: Is Terry just "Terry"? 'bmfc1' wanted him to go with 'SHORTY' but I'm not sure TC took him up on that. oe: and the answer is ... 'TC'
  13. The good news is we're 4-for-7 w/RiSP The bad news is that only 2 of those 4 hits actually knocked in a run. This entire game essentially turned in the 1st inning. The Mets fail twice to turn grounders into outs and instead turned one of their own singles into an out. This is a very different game if that 1st frame plays out differently.
  14. The Nats look like they're back down to four racing Presidents again after briefly expanding to five and then six. They should get a Trump mock up, but then stage so that at one point in each race he falls flat on his face.
  15. Travis Nathaniel Taijeron -- DOB: 1/20/89 -- 6' 2" / 224 -- BR/TR 18th round draft pick in 2011 out of Cal Poly Pomona. Attended Granite Hills HS in El Cajon*, CA * that's Spanish for 'The Cajon'
  16. Bad pitching plus two infield grounders NOT turned into outs = ... well pretty much a typical 1st inning as far as the Mets are concerned.
  17. bmfc1 wrote: No Murphy, Rendon or Zimmerman for the bad guys. Won't everyone be confused when they realize that "Rey Rey" isn't Jose Reyes. That's two games in a row for Zimmerman & Rendon, not quite sure what Dusty is up to with that. When I hear 'Rey Rey' I immediately think of Ordonez
  18. I like that Baltimore's Chris Davis has CRUSH on his uni for the weekend while Oakland's Khris Davis is going with KRUSH
  19. And the Yanx just lost to Seattle (one of the WC chasers) in the 11th on another HR off Chapman by a LHB (Yonder Alonso) Prior to this month Chapman had given up ONE HR to a lefty hitter in his ML career. He now has served up four, one five years ago and three in the last two weeks.
  20. You guys weren't nervous, were you?
  21. I was iffy on the deGrom/Blevins switch but Jerry made Murph look silly on all three pitches.
  22. Zvon wrote: I reloaded the page, and yes, I was that far behind. Amazin' Sometimes if you leave a game then come back it does you the 'favor' of dropping you where you left off rather than where the game is now.
  23. Zvon wrote: Is it really the 8th inning? Yikes. MLBtv has me in the bottom of the 4th! How is that possible?
  24. Nice to see the boys who are fighting for jobs coming through. That was a bit of a gutsy send by Sherlock as Taylor fielded that single very shallow. Plus Juan looked like he expected to be held and had to re-ignite his motors.
  25. #49 in his second AB tonight. In his 3rd AB he merely doubled.
