  1. So McNeil has now officially got to be tabbed as Rocket J. Squirrel after that act. Nice that he's the first (AFAIK) to take advantage of the new stadium configurations. A 'Net Gem'? Not sure that ball is catchable otherwise. Or, if he did make the catch sans net, we'd be holding our breaths while listening to Mickey in the post-game presser saying; "We'll know more when we get the X-Ray results".
  2. Bader is one of those 'fun to watch' guys (think young Eric Byrnes) but that helps to cover up that he's not so good sometimes.
  3. Do you dare Familia to close it out? Not sure if Diaz is available (or that you'd want him after last night). Ditto Lugo who pitched last night and Gsellman who threw two innings. So if not Fammy ... Bashlor? Meanwhile, 26 pitches from Colome almost certainly keeps him out of tomorrow's DGANG

  5. NOW you HAVE to run for Ramos ... and he does
  6. You can see the mark where the ball hit, but you still can't tell if it was fair or foul I thought it was fair in real time but I don't think you can overturn it based on the video. ... and they don't.
  7. And another low-scoring game is about to go over the 3 hour mark
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I'd pull Wilson with Jiménez coming up. Get a righty. Not if his name is Familia Weird inning. The hard hit stuff went for outs, the softies were hits. So now that deGrom has zero chance of winning, that means we're allowed to score now, right?
  9. In 1,838 career ABs -- right about three full seasons' worth spread across four years -- the ChiSox SS Tim Anderson 'walk rate' [OBA - BA] is a stunningly low .028 (63 career walks). Take out the 11 HBPs and it gets even lower. Last season was his best ever and even that was just .041, barely more than half of a normal league average (.070 or so) I'm trying to think of extreme free-swingers of the past to see if I can find one even close to that low. My first thought of Tony Pena yields .049. Pudge checks in at .038
  10. I think they probably had time to go to 1st and then still get Cano jogging towards 2nd. Still no hits w/RiSP 1 for 20 in this series
  11. Just what deGrom didn't need, two outs on four pitches right on the heels of his lengthy bottom 3rd. And now the side is out on 8 pitches

I read about his shampoo which he says is expensive. I've seen far worse; He should use the same stuff I use: $1.99/vat
  13. Top WHIPs in MLB 2019 1) Verlander - 0.811 - HOU 2) Greinke - 0.943 - HOU 3) Ryu 4) Scherzer 5) Cole - 1.002 - HOU
  14. I was hoping that the last thing Greinke did in an Arizona uni was beat the Yanx. He left today's game during a rain delay up 3-2 but the Yanx just went ahead in the bottom of the 7th 4-3 MFY, bottom 8 Braves closed it out. No apparent arrests in CIN/PIT this afternoon.
  15. Zack Greinke: #3 starter in post-season for Houston
  16. Last minute deals being tossed over the transom Mike Leake (SEA) to the DBacks Sherman (although consider the hack/source): Blue Jay Aaron Sanchez to Astros ANNNNNND ... Zack Greinke to the Astos!!! (Rosenthal - but, you know)
  17. Wheeler: Not dealt Bumgarner: Not dealt Robbie Ray: Not dealt Pitt reliever Felipe Vazquez: Not dealt
  18. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Gnats get Blue Jays reliever Daniel Hudson Also RHR Hunter Strickland from Seattle Rosenthal: Detroit closer Shane Greene to the Braves is a done deal Ceetar: Rosenthal is a hack
  19. Joel Sherman: Yanx are out on Wheeler Ceets: Sherman is a hack
  20. Even a broken fan is right twice a day y'know. Wait, what?
  21. Braves pen coughs up 1 in the 8th then 2 more in the 9th to tie the game Braves take lead in top 10 (Donaldson HR). Josh Tomlin trying to close it out (1 out / 2 on) On a not unrelated note, Braves are said to be on the verge of acquiring ex-Yank/current-Tiger reliever Shane Greene But that won't help them today.
  22. Heyman: 'Doesn't seem like' Edwin Diaz is going to be traded. Rays, Yanx, Astros in on talks for Wheeler Ceetar: Heyman [or insert any other name] is a hack
  23. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Goddamn Wilmer Flores popped out to the catcher with a chance to bust it open. Yeah, that was one of the few ABs I saw for the whole game. Just 2 HRs for Wilmer this year although in only 146 ABs due to -- say it with me folks -- ill-timed injuries. 34 games at 2B for WF this season; 13 more at 1B. 33 games started out of 108 Missed two months from mid-May to mid-July
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Imagine how it's gonna be when Céspedes gets back. And Nimmo and Lowrie!!! I thought about Nimmo just the other day and realized how long it had been since I thought of him at all. Shame. Can Lowrie, if and when he does show his face, actually be considered "back" seeing as how he was never really here in the first place?
