MLB.TV is downloaded via the MLB app. You'll need to sign up for it but won't have to pay for this game tonight. Cool. I'm in. Bottom of first. In case you're not aware, you can buy all NYM games for the season (minus any games blacked out in your area) from MLB.TV, or, for a higher price, buy All games (minus the same restrictions).
  2. deGrom pitching a half-hitter though two innings
  3. Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong -- Mark Knopfler And one of us here is wrong as well.
  4. There's a guy in the seats behind the plate (behind the Delta sign) wearing a red hat who looks like Boris Johnson. And maybe it is ... he's got some free time these days.

  6. Yanx surprisingly deal away starting LH pitcher Jordan Montgomery. Not that Montgomery is super great but that they don't have a ton of depth there even with the addition of Montas. Apparently the return if CF defensive whiz Harrison Bader. That allows them to move Judge away from CF and pretty much pushes the other Aaron, Hicks, to the bench (or out) although Bader is currently injured so not immediately.
  7. Contreras was definitely in the yearbook as the boy most likely to be traded. And then he wasn't.
  8. Jayson Stark: Phils trade Mickey Moniak (former 1/1 draft pick) plus another prospect for ... Noah Syndergaard.

  10. =roger_that post_id=101942 time=1659475581 user_id=128] It's obviously a RIGHT NOW!!! move. If it doesn't get the Mets deep into the post-season, it's a bad move, but if Ruf gets hot and wins us a few games we otherwise would have lost and we end up playing in early November, no one remembers or cares.
  11. btw, this game is on MLBN tonight and is the free game of the day on MLB.TV for any out of towners without a usual connection.
  12. MLBN: Possible trade of Noah Syndergaard down to two teams, Jays, Phillies
  13. I had to go look up Abbott. Turns 27 next month but is still a rookie (might still be next year as well)2nd round pick by Cubs in 2017 from Loyola Marymount University Waiver pick up from the Cubs org last winter. 7 games last season, 1 start This will be his 4th appearance and 1st start this year.
  14. Our team always has trouble against no-name pitchers who were selling shoes just last winter -- Every fan of every team
  15. Oh I think, DO SOMETHING! is the prevailing attitude at just about every trade deadline. And, while I don't necessarily think that the F.O. is listening to impatient fans, I believe the sense that some deal being preferable to no deal is a common one because to do otherwise is to invite the criticism that you didn't care or didn't try. And thus we wind up with Pete Crow-Armstrong for two months of Javy Baez, or a slew of bodies for a marginal upgrade in the RH DH spot, and fewer bullets in the gun going forward for when a real upgrade comes along.
  16. Heyman: 'Mets don't see a likelihood for a Contreras trade'
  17. This is always the conundrum of trading deadline day. Fans scream 'DO SOMETHING ... DO SOMETHING' and then the team does something and we change to 'NOT THAT!!!!'
  18. Austin Riley -- .423. BA / 11 HRs / 25 RBI / 1344 OPS and Aaron Judge -- .333 / 13 / 32 / 1253 are your NL and AL Players of the Month for July . Not sure if there was even a second place finisher on either side.
  19. Marlins trade Pop and Bass (but not Jazz) across the border in what I assume is a U.S./Canadian cultural music exchange program.
  20. It's unclear to me whether including Hosmer in the deal was supposed to be for the benefit of the Pads or the Nats? He's having a nice year but is aging, expensive, and likely to get worse by the time the Nats get better. From SD's perspective, it's future payroll relief in anticipation of what Soto will command in the near future but how much if they were eating a big chuck of it? The two sides will tweak the deal somehow but it'll be a side issue at this point. In the meantime, he may not hit many HRs in Boston (very high GB rate) but has the kind of LH swing that'll pepper the Green Monster.
  21. OMG! Steve Phillips is once again (still?) on MLBN. Hadn't seen/heard from him in years.
  22. Joey Gallo to the Dodgers 'pending physicals'. That's crazy!
  23. =smg58 post_id=101864 time=1659456069 user_id=62] =Methead post_id=101861 time=1659455335 user_id=61] Juan Soto and Josh Bell to the Padres appears to be done.
  24. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=101839 time=1659441121 user_id=119] Martino says the Mets are talking with the Tigers for Andrew Chafin and Michael Fulmer.
  25. Contreras IS getting moved, there's no mystery to that. To where and for what is the question.
