  1. Nothing spectacular yet, but Naquin has looked quite smooth in both corner spots so far and has played plenty of CF in his time. With Jankowski gone, he's probably Nimmo's backup at this point.
  2. =roger_that post_id=101657 time=1659293724 user_id=128] I'm not saying to tag, I'm saying to draw a throw. No risk, high payoff if the rushed throw goes wild. Take four running steps to 3B, and see what happens. Standard fundamental of Little Leaguers everywhere.
  3. "Stallings going out there trying to live up to his name" That's a good line from Randazzo. The kid might have a future in this business.
  4. The expected BA on that Mazeika bunt was 1.000
  5. I guess everyone just assumed victory and tuned out. Yay Us!!!
  6. Nothing like ruining the aura of your first ML hit.
  7. Naquin oh-fer-four in his NYM debut. What pct of the MoFo would be denouncing his acquisition right now, 80 or 90?
  8. Bleier's outing a bit rocky so far.
  9. Three runs makes me less werried.
  10. It feels like this should be more than a two run lead, and yet it's not and that makes me a bit werried.
  11. I know one about Vogelbach's #32 ... it's not in honor of his waist size.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: I don't know how much of it is positioning and how much is range, but a portion of this Mets' two-run rally has been brought to you by the defense of shortstop Miguel Rojas. Plus the tag to 3rd by Nido. He doesn't score on Lindor's single from 2nd.
  13. Four LHBs, three RHBs, & two switchies. I wouldn't read too much into that.
  14. The Tyler Naquin era has begun!!!! OK, that's probably overstating things
  15. The Ms are also on the longest streak of missing post-season, not just in baseball but across all four U.S. team sports (since their 116 win season in 2001). So they've got plenty of incentive to 'go for it' at a time while they're in the second tier of AL teams and while current post-season structures rewards second tier-ness. Currently they've got little shot at the AL West (-12.0 G to Houston) but are on a roll (17-6 in July), have the 4th best record in AL (behind HOU, NYY, TOR) and the 2nd best WC record although with a log jam of teams right on their heels, so no time like the present.
  16. Yeah, they also lead the planet in HRS. The point was not that the Yanx are a ping-hitting team, it's that last night's game in particular must have been frustrating to watch as a string of weak grounders produced a grand total of One out leading to KCR losing the lead even before Judge's coup de grace. You need to get over your Jeter obsession.
  17. That Castillo is under team control through 2023 obviously increases the price it took to get him. Hopefully for the Mariners they'll have him for two pennant races, not just for one. SS Noelvi Marte (Mariners' No. 1 prospect): 20 y/o, high-A; SS Edwin Arroyo (No. 3) 18 y/o in Low-A; RHP Levi Stoudt (No. 5) 24 y/o, 3rd round pick 2019 out of Lehigh U, in AA; RHP Andrew Moore 28 y/o, 2nd round pick 2015 Oregon St, bits of ML action in 2017 & 2019
  18. One game under our belts and Alcantara in the rearview mirror ... good time to make some hay. 6:10 start tonight
  19. Fortunately I wasn't watching any of this otherwise I might have put my fist through something. Yanx entered the bottom of the 8th down 5-3 to KCR; Judge leads off the inning with a K - then comes a weak grounder to 3rd for an infield single, followed by a ground single to CF, followed by an E6, followed by an infield single to 1B (1 run), followed by a walk (1 run), followed by a ground single to LF (1 run), followed by a weak groundout (1 out/1 run) So that's six grounders plus a walk in a seven batter span, at least four of which could have ended the inning as GiDPs but instead were turned into a grand total of one out. - a walk then re-loaded the bases in time for Judge's Grand Slam, his 2nd HR of the game and 3rd of the series. 11-5 was the final
  20. Nuns run bald through Vatican halls pregnant pleading immaculate conception
  21. Still 5-2 Braves and just one out to get, but the DBacks have loaded the bases ...
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Leadoff triple for the snakes Followed by two quick outs, but then a four pitch walk.
