  2. When was the last ball they got out of the infield? Two innings ago? Three?
  3. Canha's had a tough night/series.
  4. The Braves are going back to Jansen after 30-odd pitches last night. This is doable but, like the other night vs Miami, it's going to have to come out of nowhere.
  5. So the length of time between 'what's taking them so long?' to 'he's not ready' is apparently six ABs
  6. At least they're putting up a good fight.
  7. No point in the catcher staying around the plate in that situation, nobody's running there any time soon.
  8. Tough to claim that we should have 8 runs with 8 singles scattered across 7 innings.
  9. I hope the DBacks are enjoying the contributions they're getting this season from Shelby Miller and Gabe Speier. Those are the two guys they got for dealing Swanson to the Braves just FIVE MONTHS after making him the 1/1 overall draft pick. P.S. Miller hasn't pitched for ARZ in years, Speier never did
  10. That's two cheesey hits for Acuna tonight.

This one and only one per inning thing doesn't produce many runs. Since those requests were answered so quickly I'll throw in, 'Don't be afraid to hit some 3R HRs now and then'.
  12. He was the recipient of a heart transplant a number of years ago. That he's still around at 77 wasn't a given.

  14. I was just thinking over the last few days that I couldn't remember the last time I saw Lindor even bobble a ball. Thankfully we got away without this one hurting.
  15. "Don't take Rinvoq if you're allergic to Rinvoq" You only get wisdom like that from prescription medicine commercials.
  16. =kcmets post_id=109409 time=1664668663 user_id=53] Don't do that.
  17. Acuna treats running hard to 1st as optional. Shut it down about halfway right there and did the same once last night. That may have been the source of the reported friction between him and Freddie.
  18. Not just longest in MLB but longest in MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL. Of course in some of those leagues making the playoffs is only slightly harder than making the phone book, so not necessarily an equal comparison.
  19. Prior to last night Megill had 4 relief appearances in his ML career (all just recently) and allowed 0 runs in 3 of them. So I think it premature at best, and far too small a sample size (3.1 IP) in any case, to declare him as being suited for just one role to the exclusion of any other. Beyond that we're saying that if whoever came in instead of Megill had put up a scoreless inning (hardly a given) and then if one or more Mets who didn't get hits did get one then the game could have turned out differently. Yes it could have.
  20. Both Minter & Jansen threw 20+ That doesn't knock them out of either weekend game but it does throw up a yellow caution flag.
  21. FOX network game Sat night Sunday night is ESPN
  22. So now neither team can clinch during this series ... though both can still come close. -- if the Mets win 0 games in Atlanta they'll then have to play 3 better than the Braves in the final series [Mets = W-W-W, Braves = L-L-L] in order to win the division, a scenario which has about a 1.4% chance of happening if you give the two better teams a 60% chance of winning each game in their final series. -- if the Mets win One game in ATL then all they have to do is play even (or better) than the Braves in the final series. Advantage Mets -- if the Mets win two games vs ATL then they clinch with a single NYM win and/or ATL loss in the final series --[CROSSOUT] and if the Mets sweep all three in Georgia then obviously that's a clinch too.[/CROSSOUT] What's obvious from the current situation is how huge the gap is between winning one game vs two. Edge still in our favor, just not as dramatically as a couple hours ago.
  23. Well that was a disappointing night. It makes the double come-back games on Wednesday even Huge-r in retrospect. - JdG wasn't bad but wasn't good enough. Of course, we expect near perfection from him so we're destined to be disappointed occasionally. - I liked that Buck stuck with Alvarez in two important ABs. Neither worked but I still don't have a problem with the decision. - we can whine about the reliever choices but I'm not sure I'd have been happy w/Buck had we burned top relievers in a game we were only on the fringes of being in. May was fine (one AB) as was Joely. Megill was not but so it goes. The Braves, meanwhile, used McHugh, Minter, Iglesies and Jansen while we've got Diaz, Lugo, Smith, and Ottavino ready to go Sat & Sun - We NEED one game in this series while they need two so tonight essentially evened things out. - Gotta hit at some point
  24. Well this is an interesting development.
