  2. I like Luis here. We need a single. Cahna's best hope lately is a HBP
  3. Can you imagine this game without the speed up rules. We might still be in the same situation, only it would be 11 PM EDT before we got there.
  4. 8-1 Braves in the 5th with two on, none out So this is almost certainly headed for double digits. Not sure the Mets have done that in their last six games combined.
  5. The first two ... no, the Only two important ABs in the game: - 1st pitch GiDP - weak grounder after waving at two balls out of the zone
  6. Oh good, a leadoff walk. I thought we might actually go a fucking inning without one.
  7. Nimmo decides to throw to the one base that no one can possibly be running to.
  8. Nogosek might have gotten a bit unlucky with the swinging buntbpkus the ARod purse slap special at 2B, but he's also missing thrown over 35 pitches and recorded three outs.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: This umpie is working with a Glavinesque strike zone. That's the sad part, that Peterson was the beneficiary of a bunch of calls he didn't deserve and Still had a lousy B/S ratio.
  10. Braves currently up 4-0 vs Boston ... still batting in the 1st
  11. Alvarez not only breaks the no-no and shutout, but also hits the first fair ball out of the infield vs a guy with a career ERA of 5 and a season ERA hovering around 8
  12. 3 runs, 5 hits, 2 BBs thru 2 How 'bout SNY giving us what the fucking prop bet of the Mets equalling that for the entire game?
  13. All those with 60+ pitches thru 2 innings come to the window to collect your winnings. Oh wait ... you All did?
  14. Nine Cincy batters, one first pitch strike
  15. Let's play NYM 1st inning BINGO - futile offensive half? -- Check - 25+ pitches from the starter? -- Check - Run(s) allowed? -- Check - Walks? -- Check - Mound visit required? -- Check The only things missing from completing your card were - HR Allowed - Stirring in the bullpen
  16. Philly fans vs soccer hooligans. Put a fence around them and charge admission to watch.
  17. I'm not saying you wouldn't put Sanchez behind the plate. But he was never more than a hitter who could (sorta) catch and now you're not even sure he can hit.
  18. Sanchez is insurance more at RH DH than he is at catcher.
  19. =metirish post_id=124768 time=1683634763 user_id=72] I see no lies , great job by little bucket
  20. I'm happy if Max gets out of this start without incident The PointsBust over/under for HR Allowed tonight is 3½ for Maxell. How 'bout for the second inning? HEY-OOOOH
  21. Edgy MD wrote: And as I suggested above, it's easier to get starters deeper into games if you work with a more flexible philosophy of using the hook. It would be easier still if the starters would stop insisting on leading the planet in BBs allowed, HRs allowed, and big honking early defecits created.
  22. Getting rid of bull-penners would be a lot easier if we had starters who could past the 3rd inning.
  23. It was sometime in the '80s when Darrell Porter came out as an alcoholic but that was kept under wraps for a while before finally going public. And then I remember CLE Mgr Mike Hargrove, a few years later, treading the old/new school line when dealing with the Little Lake Nellie boat wreck. Those might have been among the earlier cracks in the macho wall.
  24. So not only does Spenser Strider have a 1970s vintage porn mustache but he also has Lee Mazzilli's 1970s era pants. There are players wearing compression sleeves that aren't as form fitting.
  25. And Boogard's physical problems could also date back to his junior days in the same way that NFL players often have concussion issues dating back to college and even high school. Sometimes the physical and mental becomes a chicken/egg thing as far as which predates the other.
