  1. Using the current post for just the changes and updates and then having a version of that 'Click for Full Roster' button is how I've long thought should be the set-up rather than reprinting the stable part of the whole 40-man plus coaches plus IL each time.
  2. How many OD starts in each pitcher's career (including the upcoming one).
  3. And that stand-alone Yanx & SFG game to open the season? ... it's a freakin' NetFlix exclusive!! Way to have a captive audience for a prime time game between two coastal glamour teams and then shut a large percentage of them out. Also, that series goes Wed - Fri - Sat making the first Sunday of the season an off-day for both.
  4. OK, I've obviously done something wrong as I was trying to get the spreadsheet to appear in the thread (this is why the 'Preview' feature was helpful). Looks like I got it now. btw, contrary to what was mentioned in another thread, I don't see a 'Hide' toggle anywhere.
  5. As we end the final week without meaningful baseball and enter the seven month ride, it's time to look at what's on the slate for the coming week.
  6. No rally That's it, he's off my opening day roster!!
  7. Puma in the Post (or was that Post in the puma?) said that Manaea is expected to work out of the pen for at least the first two rotations. So that's ten games in which there will be two off-days: following games #1 and #10 (or more depending on weather) .
  8. O'Rourke: "Agarn, I don't know why everybody says you're so dumb" Agarn (10 minutes later): "WHO says I'm dumb?!?!"
  9. Larry Stahl outlived Larry Storch by nearly four years who is the first guy I think of whenever I hear the name Larry Stahl. OTOH, Storch died at age 99 so he kind of outlived Stahl even though he died first.
  10. That's probably true, especially given that the Rangers then won the next (and final) round to break a very long drought*. But I think this one was a better call. I remember listening to WFAN the morning after that Game 7 Matteau goal and whoever was working that morning (it was a Saturday) naturally had Howie on the phone as a guest. Howie, who clearly had little sleep and was a bit groggy, had just heard a playback of his own call for the first time. And his initial reaction was to be a bit embarrassed by it. He felt he lost his cool by kind of just screaming at the beginning before eventually settling down. With the Pete call he conveyed the emotional of it all but without going over the top like you sometimes hear from some student announcer. Also, the nature of baseball gave him the time to set up the AB (in a way that hockey can't) and he did a great job of that [possible last AB as a Met, possible last AB of that year's NYM season, etc.] plus he built onto the tension with each pitch that led up to the final one.. And look, I'm sure he's gotten over whatever qualms he had about the Matteau call, especially given how many people bring it up to him now 30+ years later. * it's just occurring to me that it's getting close to as long since 1994 and it was from 1940 until the NINE-TEEN-FOR-TEE chants began to show up (mid-80s sometime). Of course it's not like Islander fans can use that now given their last half-century but, man!, two in now 86 years is almost getting into Cubs/Red Sox territory.
  11. Ronnie, the baby of the GKR group, turns 66 this summer.
  12. Lindor starting the season is pretty much a given at this point. I think has been all along but became a certainty within the past week.
  13. I sometimes get on-line questionnaire invites while I'm on mlb.com Took one just a week or so ago. I like it because it lets me tell them that I very much do Not like the ghost runner rule (they no longer even ask about the DH, treating it, I guess, like that's already a set-in-stone part of the game to the point where no one alive remembers when it wasn't so), and that I do Not gamble or play baseball-related video games. They start out by asking you your birth year so they probably look at mine and figure I'm not the demographic they're looking to make happy anyway. and so likely ignore most of my responses.
  14. With just seven days to go, the weather forecast is looking slightly better: Mix of clouds and sun, high of 53, SSE winds 10-15 mph, any rain holds off until night. Oh, and a waxing gibbous moon. Saturday and Sunday for games #2 & #3 also a bit improved since last check: colder (highs 45-50) but no precipitation in the forecast.
  15. No, it's a way to help double-check your message prior to posting it. It has nothing to do with being undercover or anything like that.
  16. One thing I just noticed is that this forum doesn't look like it has a something that I used often in the previous home: a 'Preview' feature, one where you can see a preview your impending post both for proof-reading purposes and just to see how the post looks especially if pictures or links are included. Or maybe there is one and I just don't see it.
  17. If I'm one of those actors, I'm telling Ron Howard: 'Hey, if we have to make his flick on 500 calories/day so do you Opie!'
  18. Well ,,, yes and no. Yes in that some huge corporation bought us. No in that we didn't actually get any money for it so "bought" is perhaps not the right term. iow: we sold ourselves to the highest bidder and the highest bid was $0.00
  19. Put another way: if Venezuela wins do they now get to hold Trump hostage?
  20. If Venezuela wins does Trump have to release Maduro?
  21. I don't change that (the SB) call. Don't blame them for trying, but not enough evidence.
  22. I had no problem. I have nothing against Harper personally and also have no problem separating pre/off-season stuff from regular season. I'll root against him (and Freddie and Schwarber, and Skenes, etc.) starting next week.
  23. PC-A almost got nailed by the bat flip. Dodged the incoming missile at the last second.
  24. And sometimes all it takes is one swing.
  25. The few baserunners the U.S. has been getting have mostly come with two outs leaving them little room for error.
