  1. Some red hot AL East action going on tonight at both ends of the standings. The Yanx, who swept the Sawx at home last week, lose the first of a rain induced DH at Fenway today to drop back under .500 They currently lead the nightcap 5-4 in bottom 6 Don't think I'll be awake for the end of this one. Rays, who trail the Orioles for 1st place by 2 games, are in Baltimore to start a four game set tonight. 4-3 Tampa Bay in the 7th
  2. Never saw GOONIES or SANDLOT* and never heard of HOCUS POCUS * Or DIRTY DANCING for that matter.

  5. Braves clinch division (Yawn!) ... although I don't think Matt Olson hit any HRs today. Austin Riley though giving the Braves their usual 2-0 lead entering the bottom of the 1st
  6. I thought he wad going to be out -- and would have been with even a decent second throw -- but it was an aggressive and correct call (IMO) with two outs and the Squirrel running.
  7. Be an interesting long term bet as to how those three ultimately place in all-time NYM records in some of those categories. - McNeil is the hit guy but also the oldest and has a shorter contract than Nimmo - Nimmo's walk totals draw away some hits but that's lessening somewhat just as his power inches up - Pete is the youngest and obviously the most power, but has just one more year of team control so beyond that is speculative
  8. Nimmo doesn't make that kind of throw.
  9. Speaking of sparkling plays in CF, a pair of gems from Pete Crow-Armstrong last night, at spacious Coors Field no less. Cubs still wound up getting swept by the Rox.
  10. Gallen looks to be about a quart short so far. Would have been far worse without two sparkling plays in CF on hard hit balls.
  11. I whiffed on the Red Dodger
  12. I was listening on the radio, although that might have been cuz it was too late at night.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Looks like the Mets are starting to seriously regret the two ducks they left out there last inning. Or any of the 8 LOBsters they've left out there so far tonight with their usual 1/10 w/RiSP
  14. Opinions on Mantiply are divided.
  15. It's not a case of hitters being either 'clutch' or 'choke', it's that they're simply not hitting enough in ANY situation. Look at the box stores (<4 RS 3 times in last 17 games) they're averaging about 3 RS/G on about a half dozen hits. Most of the HRs are solo nor because they don't know how to hit with men on base but because there so rarely are any. I think we get so busy sometimes piling hate on whichever reliever gave the runs that particular day that we fail to note that nothing but perfection from each of them is good enough because we so rarely score following a few token runs by the 2nd inning.
  16. Roberto Hernandez would have worked for all three teams in the 300+ saves column. Wagner & Kimbrel in two each. I went with Robb Nen in the upper right square. Tough day to go rare as there just aren't that many 300+ guys in either category and many of the wins guys are from ancient times. So I tried to go rare in the left hand column with Jesus Alou, Brad Hand, and John Stearns. I don't seem to be able to display my grid
  17. In general, the GM's main area is contract negotiations while the PoBO oversees that plus most of the other functions you mention. And, yeah, I'm disappointed that STOINS!! wasn't the subject line (although I probably wouldn't have thought to do it either).
  18. Mets have scored more than four runs three times in their last 17 games (losing once and needing extras to win in another) and more than six runs just once.
  19. There's just ZERO faith that anyone on this entire team is going to come through with an important hit with a tying or go-ahead run on base. Nimmo coming up with an attempt to prove me wrong.
  20. PO, K, K from the middle of the lineup. Our offensive juggernaut rolls on.
  21. Y'know, kinda like that.
  22. We've hit balls a lot harder than the Snakes have tonight. It would nice to have a bigger lead on account of it and not spend the next two innings being one pitch away from losing the lead.
  23. The Baez deal can never be TBD. We got the best that Baez ever had and it was still <200 ABs of what turned out to be a lost 2nd half. By the next season Crow-Armstong was rising up the prospect lists and could hav been kept or been dealt away for a much better or more necessary player. And are we really still treating the Kelenic deal as the Cano deal as we mostly (and incorrectly) did five years ago? Diaz's NYM (to-date) career hardly needs rehashing while Cano gave the Mets 700 ABs of at worst decent (OPS+ = 105) hitting. Did I want him here? No, but he contributed while he was active. Waste of money? Sure, but I don't care. Kelenic has a ways to go before he makes me even think about regretting that deal as a whiole. PC-A barely has to maintain an ML pulse.
  24. =Fman99 post_id=137218 time=1694483120 user_id=86] I whiffed on PIT/CWS. It's an underwhelming list.
